Lenten Retreat with
with Fr. Kevin Baldwin & Fr. Thomas Koys
Saturday, February 14th at 9am
Fr. Kevin Baldwin was born and raised in a small town on
the New Jersey coast. He graduated from St. Rose High
School in Belmar, New Jersey in 1981 and the University
of Notre Dame in 1985. A month after graduation he
joined the Legionaries of Christ. He earned a Master's
degree in philosophy and theology from the Legion’s
Athenaeum, Regina Apostolorum, located in Rome, Italy. He was ordained a
priest in Rome in 1998. After ordination, Fr. Kevin spent eight years working
as a chaplain and spiritual director in two of the Legion's schools in Curitiba,
Brazil, and directing women's Regnum Christi section there. Before coming
to Chicago, he did pastoral work in South Florida, Houston & San Antonio,
Texas. Fr. Kevin enjoys tennis, soccer and basketball. He counts reading
history books as a favored pursuit and is an ardent Notre Dame football fan!
Fr. Thomas Koys is the author of The Ashes That Still
Remain, a book that draws similarities between the U.S.
Supreme Court’s Dred-Scott decision and Roe vs. Wade.
He broadcasts on the Winds of Change, AM 750, every
other Wednesday. He is fluent in Spanish and reads
Lithuanian, and enjoys kayaking and biking. In 1997, he
completed a 150 mile bike ride, an MS fundraising activity, shortly after his
brother was stricken with the disease. Fr. Koys enjoys reading Mexican
history, particularly about the Mexican revolutions in the 1800s and the
1900s that sowed tremendous anti-Catholic seeds when the government
took over Catholic hospitals, schools, churches, and sold them to pay for the
revolution effort. He is currently the pastor at St. James at the Sag Bridge in
Lemont.
Note: St. James at Sag Bridge is located at 10600 S. Archer Avenue, Lemont, IL 60439,
near the intersection of Routes 83 and 171 and just off Sag Bridge. The retreat will be in
Sag Hall, the first building on the right just after entering the iron gates. Admission is free.
