Play for P.I.N.K.
NEW YORK, NY, January 7, 2015:
Play for P.I.N.K (PFP), a grassroots fundraising
organization using lifestyle and sporting events to raise
funds for breast cancer research, presented a donation
of $4.5 million to benefit the Breast Cancer Research
Foundation (BCRF). Since its inception in 1996, PFP
has contributed over $38.5 million, making Play for
P.I.N.K. one of BCRF’s largest donors.
PFP is currently supporting 17 research projects led by
25 world-class scientists investigating the spectrum of
breast cancer including tumor biology, genetics,
prevention, treatment and survivorship. “What started
out as a single golf tournament in New Jersey to raise
money for breast cancer research has expanded to
30,000 volunteers in 28 states hosting all kinds of
sporting events to raise funds for breast cancer
research,” stated Laura Lassman, President and
Founder of Play for P.I.N.K. “This is a proud moment for
PFP to be recognized as one of the largest independent
donors supporting transformative cancer research.”
What makes Play for P.I.N.K unique is that 100% of all
proceeds go directly to BCRF thanks to the sustained
generosity of Bloomberg, which underwrites all
overhead costs. Play for P.I.N.K. identified BCRF as its
sole beneficiary in 1996 because of BCRF’s mission to
advance the world’s most promising research and its
fiscal efficiency and accountability. “Play for P.I.N.K. is a
model of volunteerism and the mobilization of citizens
who want to make a direct impact in advancing breast
cancer research,” stated Myra Biblowit, President of
BCRF. “This extraordinary donation will translate into
breakthroughs in the lab and clinic that will have a
meaningful impact on breast cancer patients today as
well as tomorrow.”
