Instructions for cPanel at Sheridan College
Connect to the Forums:
1. Go to https://phoenix.sheridanc.on.ca/~ccit1800/
2. Click on “Register”
3. Enter the information into the page
- Make sure you use an email address that is valid
- Make sure you enter your class.
4. Go to your email and find the verification email, and follow the instructions to verify
your account.
5. Once you have verified your account, login to the site, and you will see your
“Phoenix User” across the top. This is what is used in the CPanel userid below

You don’t get a phoenix user once you have logged into the forums
You pick the wrong class when you signed up.
Login to CPanel:
1. Go to https://phoenix.sheridanc.on.ca
2. Use your CCIT number as the login name and “generic” for the password. In this
example, we’ve used ccit1041 as the login.
3. The first thing you should do when you logged in for the first time is to add your email
address to the contact information. If you have a Sheridan email address entered here,
you will be able to use the password reset function if you forget your password.

4. Enter your email address into the first text box -

Please make sure to note this since we cannot reset these passwords!!!
6. On this screen you will have to pick a password that meets complexity requirements.
The minimum password strength must be 50. Best practices is to use a combination of
lower and upper case numbers, special characters and numbers.

7. Do not base your password on a dictionary password, otherwise, you will see the
following error:

8. Once you have successfully changed your password, you will see the following screen:
9. Click on “Go Back” to return to the cPanel. You will have to login again using your NEW
password.
10. From the cPanel, click on “File Manager” under the “Files” category as seen here:

11. You will see a pop-up dialogue box asking for the Directory Selection. Leave it as “Web
Root.”
12. You will then see the “File Manager” for cPanel at this directory level. This is where you
will place the files.
13. If you name one of the files you create as “index.html”, when you visit your website, such
as http://phoenix.sheridanc.on.ca/~ccit1041 you will see the result of the file.
