2015 - SACRAMENT of CONFIRMATION
Welcome to St. Bernard’s Parish Sacramental Program. We hope to support you as
much as possible as you prepare your child to receive this sacrament. We do expect
that you are committed to the preparation of your child and will attend ALL the classes
with your child.
NB:
We ask you to give thought to the date you wish your child to receive the
Sacrament, which is normally arranged at the first meeting. If you are NOT in
attendance at the FIRST meeting then you may not be given a choice of date for your
child to receive the Sacrament.

Additional Preparation Day :.
Your child will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the same Ceremony as the children
attending St. Bernard’s Parish Primary School and therefore your child will be required to
participate in a practice and preparation day at St. Bernard’s School & Church on
THURSDAY 14th May 2015....This will take place from 8.40am – 1.00pm and further
information will be given at the meetings
Homework Tasks:
Some short tasks may be given at the end of a class, as well as things to think about and
discuss at home. Your child will also be required to prepare a poster introducing themselves
which will be displayed in the church gathering space for the two weeks prior the celebration of
the Sacrament.
 An extra photo 10cm x 15cm [child only] is also required for the “photo display
banner” inside the church
Stole preparation:
You will be required to iron a symbol onto your child’s “Sacramental Stole”. The symbol will be
provided.
 If you have to purchase a NEW stole - an extra cost of $10 will apply.
Fee

$50.00 per child (covers work-book, symbol for ironing onto Baptismal Stole, Certificate,
poster paper, preparation classes, any additional photo-copying, stationary supplies and
tutoring.
Celebration date and time :
This year the Sacrament will be celebrated on three occasions:
 Sunday 17th May @ 1.00pm
 Sunday 17th May @ 3.30pm
 Friday
22nd May @ 7.00pm
 Further information will be given at the meetings.
A PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST attend ALL meetings with the child.
Absence from any class may hinder your child receiving the sacrament in 2015
NB: Your child is asked to please bring his /her own pencil case/pens/textas etc
