NEXT MEETING: 12TH MAY
Our speaker at the meeting will be lovely member, Flora Smith, who will speak about archiving, what it
is, some of the history of it, what sort of people/organisations do it, and why – interspersed with some
interesting anecdotes!
Our "Getting to Know You" segment will feature another lovely member, Marlene Davar.

SENIORS REJECT PENSIONER REVERSE MORTGAGE PROPOSAL
A proposal by the Centre for Independent Studies to reverse mortgage the family home could leave many
elderly people without roofs over their heads, National Seniors warns.
“The centre is proposing the government include the family home in the pension assets test and encourage
people to take out reverse mortgages,” National Seniors chief executive Michael O’Neill said.
“The proceeds of the reverse mortgages would be included in the income assets test for the Age Pension
and according to the Centre, slash $14.5 billion from the cost of the pension each year,” he said.

NSA LUNCH AT MAKI MOTO JAPANESE RESTAURANT
The lunch club was attended by 10 members on Thursday 23rd April - a good time was had by all and the
photos below show some of the happy lunch goers.
QUOTE OF THE MONTH
"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop." Confucius

JOKE OF THE MONTH
A senior citizen said to his eighty-year old buddy:
'So I hear you're getting married?'
'Yes!'
'Do I know her?'
'No!'
'This woman, is she good looking?'
'Not really.'
'Is she a good cook?'
'No, she can't cook too well.'
'Does she have lots of money?'
'No! Poor as a church mouse.'
'Well, then, is she good in bed?'
'I don't know.'
'Why in the world do you want to marry her then?'
'Because she can still drive!'

WHO IS THIS?
Here are another couple of photos from our archives! If your picture hasn't appeared in this section
before and you would like to feature, please let me have a copy asap - otherwise this segment will not
appear next month! One of our members is the little girl on the right................ One of our members is the
little boy on the right - who apparently appeared in an advertising campaign to reduce the use of
electricity shortly after the war.............. The man with this little boy might also be recognised as being a
member of a famous entertaining family..........................?????????????? Put your thinking caps on!
RECIPE OF THE MONTH
TOBLERONE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE
I was reminded of this recipe as we passed through Duty Free recently and there was the largest bar of
Toblerone (a favourite of mine) I have ever seen. You will be pleased to know I resisted the temptation
as I had already put on a number of (unspecified) kilos.....................
500g Toblerone chocolate
300ml thickened cream
4 egg whites
extra Toblerone and cream to serve
Place the Toblerone in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of hot water and stir until smooth. Beat cream
until soft peaks form. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form and fold into cream, add chocolate and mix
until thoroughly combined.
Place into 8 x 125ml serving glasses or bowls and chill until set. Will be firm in 2-3 hours. Serve with a
little grated Toblerone and a dollop of cream.

If you know of any member who may be unwell, please let anyone on the Committee know. It is
important that we offer support if one of our members is unwell and let them know we are thinking of
them. If anyone is in need of a helping hand to do a small job, again, let a Committee member know. We
can also arrange for transport to and from meetings if anyone is unable to make their own arrangements.
And if anyone is celebrating a big "0" birthday - again, please let a Committee member know.
We are now accepting advertisements for the June Newsletter. Anyone interested should send their
advert to me at [email protected] - the cost is $5 for 40 words and $10 if accompanied by a
photograph. This cost covers one issue only.
