INSET Day
Dear Parents,
Congratulations to all of the children who took their Sat’s and practice tests this week. They have
worked really hard and all done their best! As a reward they had a Greek feast on Friday as part of
our history topic.
Next Week
I am at Priddy on Tuesday and Friday all day and Wednesday morning, although it is possible to contact
me at other times during the week at St Lawrence’s.
Creative Arts week
Next week for creative arts all children can wear PE kit with their colour team t-shirts. We will be
doing a variety of activities as follows:
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday
Design competition & Circus skills
Art; music on ipads & PE
Fashion; Newspaper & Yr 6 Lead activities
KS1 Trip; Art (please bring an empty baked bean tin) & PE
Drumming; Gardening & Dance
On Wednesday the children will be designing recycled clothes. To do this we need clothes so that the
children can cut, sew and redesign. Please can we have any old clothes which your children do not need
any more or have grown out of?
Please can all children bring a clean, empty baked bean tin for art on Thursday and if anyone has any
spare gardening tools/trowels, please can they bring them in (named) for a session on Friday
Swimming
There is no swimming until after half-term.
Trip to Kilver Court
Can all children in KS1 come in school uniform and make sure that they have suitable clothing for the
possibility of bad weather. Can you ensure that you child has a drinks bottle in school to take with
them.
Second hand Uniform
Please contact the school office if you are interested in purchasing any second hand uniform.
Reception Open Afternoon
On Thursday 4th June the reception parents are invited to a ‘stay and play’ afternoon between 1.45 and
2.45pm. Parents will also have the opportunity to look at their children’s books. Children in Year 1 and
2 will have an open afternoon later in the year.
Year 6 Fundraising for Woodlands Trip
Each year the children in year 6 fundraise towards their end of year trip, this year they would like to
do something a bit different. On Wednesday 20 th May, in creative week, Year 6 will be putting on an
afternoon of activities for the whole school. This will include a rather fantastic treasure hunt! They
are asking for each child to bring in £1.50 which will be their way of raising funds to go towards their
school trip.
PTA
The Green Cow Cafe is calling for volunteers
Priddy Folk Festival is 10th - 12th July and the Green Cow Cafe invites you to join it's
team! The Green Cow Cafe is our main PTA fundraising event for the school - last year we raised over
£5,200! This is a great event that allows us to raise lots of money whilst having a good time at the
Priddy Folk Festival!
We are seeking volunteers for this years' cafe to help with setting up the cafe for the event, cooking
food, making salads / sandwiches, serving in the cafe (please see timetable on PTA notice board),
baking cakes, closing down at end of Festival etc.
We are looking for a Team Leader for the lunchtime sessions on the 11th and 12th July 11am-2.30pm;
this role is key as it oversees and coordinates the running of the cafe and team of volunteers, you will
have a thorough handover! Please contact Sam O'Nians asap on 07917360069 to become a Team
Leader!
We run cooking sessions during each Monday in June to make and freeze dishes; our first cooking
session is on the evening of 8th June (Tabitha Head and Ruth Glass are coordinating these cookathons,
please go to them if you are able to volunteer)
We always need fresh homemade cakes for the cafe, please could all parents be ready to bake and
donate two cakes for the cafe (cakes can be delivered to the cafe during the weekend).
To join the Green Cow Cafe team please contact a member of the PTA committee (Sam O'Nians, Jen
Clements, Lesley Houlton, Tabitha Head, Kate Small) or one of our Green Cow Team Leaders (Tim
Clements, Pip Counsel, Sam O'Nians).
We look forward to hearing from you, all are welcome!
Cricket
Priddy and St Lawrence’s had an indoor cricket match due to the weather. All enjoyed the game and
we will be looking to have another Federation cricket match after half term.

dance after school club. Children from Y2 – Y6 are able to participate. Please fill in the permission
slip and return to the office.
Year 5 & 6 Residential
We are planning to take the Year 5&6 children on a residential trip to London next year in the Summer
Term (2016). This will replace the usual Kilve trip which normally takes place in September. Details,
itinerary and payment plan will be given to parents in September to allow more time for parents to
save. The aim is to give every Year 5 and Year 6 child a city residential experience in addition to an
outdoor and adventurous activity during their time at Priddy.
Parent Mini bus drivers
There is an opportunity for parents to have mini bus training and then become qualified to drive the
Federation minibus. If anyone is interested please contact the office.
ROBERT GLANVILLE PLAYING FIELD – All weather surface.
Voting is now open in the Aviva Community Fund
We are trying to get funding to build the all-weather surface on the playing fields. With this fund we
need people to vote for it if it is going to win. If you use the link below you can register and you will
then have 10 votes which you can use on our project.
This project is the final part of a 20 year plan to improve the playing field. It will provide a public
facility for our community and surrounding villages. Our trustees have worked hard to turn what was a
field with few facilities to a space we are all proud of and is central to our village life.
