Year 7 & 8 trip to Lightwater Valley

Dear Parent/Carer
Re: End of year school trip
As you will be aware, whilst launching the new Behaviour policy in January, Mr
McKelvie reaffirmed that we would also review the rewards and recognition
through consulting with our students. The full details around rewards and
recognition will be launched to all Year groups in September 2015. The details
will also be available for you in next year’s student planners.
In the interim, we have carried out a survey where a proportion of our students
have expressed their desire for end of the year school trip. We have therefore
decided to offer this opportunity this year. We have secured places on a ‘first
come first served basis’ to Lightwater Valley Theme Park in Ripon, North
Yorkshire for Year 7 and 8 students. As you will appreciate, it is a peak season
for trips to the theme parks and we have worked hard to secure the best price.
Lessons will continue as normal for other students in school.
Date of the trip: Wednesday 15 July 2015
Depart from school: 8.30am
Return to school: approximately 3.15pm.
Cost (includes tickets to the theme park and travel by coach): £26.00
Students are currently busy collecting the necessary number of merits to
‘qualify’ for this trip. The deadline for collecting the required number of merits
is Wed 20 May 2015. We will inform you if your son/daughter has been
successful in qualifying for this trip and then authorise for you to make the
payment through ‘parent pay’ system.
We will enter the names of all the students who have ‘qualified’ into a prize
draw. Two FREE tickets per Year group will be made available and we are also
looking at FREE upgrades to ‘Queue-Jump’ at the theme park. Furthermore, we
will have special reward assemblies in July, with many prizes and special
certificates acknowledging the great efforts made by the vast majority of our
students.

Please note that we will continue to monitor your son/daughter’s attendance,
punctuality, behavior for learning and general behaviour in school and around
the community. Should we feel that there are concerns, the school reserve the
right to withdraw your son/daughter from the trip and the cost of the trip will be
refunded to you.
We very much want your son/daughter to be part of this year’s school trip. I
would appreciate if you could complete the reply slip below to show that you
would like your son/daughter to attend the end of year school trip. We will
contact you after the half term to advise you if your child has been successful in
qualifying and then provide access for you to make the payment.
