Learner assessment record (LAR)
Your learner assessment record is designed to support the assessment of your CYQ Level 2 Award in
Nutrition for Healthy Living. It contains all the paperwork that you, your tutor and your assessor will need
in order to complete the qualification.
You will share the learner assessment record with both your tutor and assessor, who will use the
paperwork contained within to assess you throughout the duration of your training. This document is an
essential part of your assessment and should be kept safe. Your tutor and assessor will guide you as to
which forms you need at particular times, as well as how the forms should be used and completed.
Upon completion of the CYQ Level 2 Award in Nutrition for Healthy Living, you will have the knowledge
and understanding to offer advice to individuals on nutrition for healthy living.
To achieve your CYQ Level 2 Award in Nutrition for Healthy Living, you must complete the following
two units:

Diet and nutrition for healthy living
Credits: 3 GLH: 17
Level: 2
You will gain 5 credits within the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).

Assessment specification
Your assessment has two elements across two units:
Assessment element 1: worksheet
You will be required to complete the ‘Food groups and digestion’ worksheet. Questions relate to the
syllabus: ‘Food groups and digestion’ unit (H/503/9974, level 2). You will be required to fully complete
the worksheet in order to achieve a pass.
Work must be the learner’s sole work, and group completion is not permitted.
Paperwork that relates to this assessment element:
• internally assessed – ‘Food groups and digestion’ worksheet
Assessment element 2: presentation
You will be required to prepare and deliver a presentation to demonstrate your understanding of the
knowledge covered in the syllabus: ‘Diet and nutrition for healthy living’ unit (D/503/9973, level 2).
For guidance as to how much detail to include in your presentation, please refer to the presentation
checklist and discuss the content with your course tutor.
The following presentation formats are acceptable and need to be agreed by the course tutor:
• leaflet/poster campaign
• computer-projected/flip-chart paper presentation
• combination of posters and computer-projected/flip-chart presentation
• different format agreed by the course tutor

Diet and nutrition for healthy living
You are required to prepare and deliver a presentation to demonstrate your understanding of the
knowledge covered in the ‘Diet and nutrition for healthy living’ unit.
For further guidance, refer to the presentation checklist on the next page. This document outlines
the assessment criteria you will be assessed against, and therefore these must be covered by your
presentation. Your tutor will be able to give you further guidance on the amount of detail you need to
provide.
