After our New Year trip and my tale of woe in Idle Chatter we
received a lot of advice/suggestions on everything from good footwear,
motels, where to eat and things to do etc all to help make a better trip. So
with our last adventure in mind John and I thought we would try another
few days in Sydney. And, I’m very pleased to report that my ever so
thoughtful husband took on board my comments and your suggestions and
we ended up having a much more enjoyable trip this time.
First off we went to the football on Friday, no need to talk about
that as there has been enough said already. It rained all day Saturday so
we went shopping, John was a real trooper and we even picked up a few
pressies for Stella. Sunday’s weather was brilliant and we spent the day
and evening at the Easter Show. Arrived back home on Monday just in time
to enjoy the rain.
We still did lots of walking this trip but the weather was in my
favour (not so hot) and a taxi here and there didn’t hurt. Plus our schedule
was not as hectic as our other trips which certainly made this break away
more pleasant.
Our four day getaway over Easter has been one of our best –
I enjoyed every minute of it.

BLAST FROM THE PAST
Extracts from IDLE CHATTER
Extract from IDLE CHATTER No: 236
THURS 19th July 1966
TIDINESS – The school children of this town are to be complimented for the
attention they are paying to the disposal of their lunch papers etc. Already
an improvement is noticeable in the street and the thanks of all concerned
go to the teachers for their guidance and to the pupils for their cooperation. Once again, Thanks children……………….
WELCOME – This is a week late but never mind. A very warm welcome is
extended to Matron Burns at the Quandialla Hospital. May her stay with us
be a pleasant one, and speaking for myself of course, I hope that the job
proves to be an easy one……………………
CHALK TALK – Excitement is increasing in the Secondary Department as the
visit from Tullibigeal draws closer. The visitors will arrive late on Friday
evening and after sporting and social activities on Saturday and Saturday
evening, will go home on Sunday morning. On the Saturday the girls will
contest basketball both “A” and “B” teams and volleyball. The boys will
play basketball, softball and football. Before the social on Saturday night, a
debating contest will be held. Chalk Talk thanks all those parents who have
offered to billet Tullibigeal students…….. A successful tuck shop was held on
last Thursday at the school. Another tuck shop will be held in a fortnight’s
time to raise money to buy a new duplicator….. A needlework inspector will
visit the school next Wednesday to inspect work done by the Secondary
students…………………..A.G.
THE DIRT TIN – Old Mother Hubbard (that’s me) went to the cupboard
(that’s the Gossip Shop) to see if she had any more news, but when I got
there she had none either and so you poor folks will have to put up with
another golf lesson. (Just as well that I have run out of space)
