Congratulations to all the children entered the writing competition last week. Everyone worked really hard to write brilliant stories and Mr Hairon and Mrs Burman
found it really tricky to choose the winners. However after a long deliberation they
came to a decision and the winners are:
Year 3: Lucy Deighton (1st), Sya Kichenside (2nd), Amy Potts (3)
Year 4: Kendra Barron (1st), Dylan Chandra (2nd), Eydie Wilkes (3rd)
Year 5: Amy Kneller (1st), Faith Moss (2nd), Kitty Crafford (3rd)
Year 6: Ralf Murray (1st), Ashley Dorling (2nd), Tharrshann Logarajah (3rd)
Those children who came first had their stories put forward to the Harpenden and
Villages Schools Writing Competition. We were really successful, achieving first
place in the Year 3 group, 2nd place in the Year 4 group and 3rd place in the Year 5
group. Lucy Deighton will receive her award from the Mayor on Tuesday 31st
March. Well done to absolutely everyone!

I would like to say a huge thank you to the parents who
came to help sort our class libraries last Friday. They did
a magnificent job in sorting through our shelves and weeding out old, tired, and outdated books. Our longer term
plan is to enhance our class libraries to really promote and
encourage reading and this sort through was a time consuming, but necessary first step. Thank you for your help!
From the sort through it became apparent that some year
groups are short of books. We would therefore welcome
donations of books that are in good condition. In particular, we are short of fiction books for Y4 and non-fiction
books across the whole school. Please drop any books into
the school office.

One of the areas that feedback from parents has highlighted is the issue of communication. Attached to this newsletter are details of some of the ways that we hope to improve in this area.
Can I please remind parents - No parking on zig-zag lines.
We are very pleased to inform everyone of the results of the Primary Maths Challenge Bonus
Round paper. Three pupils, Josh Harden (Yr 5),
Sam Lea (Yr 6) and Tharrshann Logarajah (Yr 6),
sat the challenge in February, and all performed
incredibly well. Tharrshann Logarajah has
achieved a bronze award and his name is currently being published on the Maths Association website along with all the other winners from around
the country. We are already looking forward to
participating in the next Challenge!

Head Boy and Head Girl Report
By Erin Duddy & Jonah Walton
We have been having so much fun playing on
the field over the past few weeks. There was a
football match on Tuesday. Unfortunately A
team lost 1:0 but the B team drew 1:1. On
Wednesday there was supposted to be a netball match, but Roundwood didn’t show up.
This week we have 186
children who have achieved
100% attendance.
Congratulations and keep up
the good work .
This week’s class winners
with the highest attendance
are Birch Class. Well done
