Chlorpheniramine Maleate USP
A histamine H1 antagonist used in allergic reactions, hay fever,
rhinitis, urticaria, and asthma. It has also been used in veterinary
applications. One of the most widely used of the classical
antihistaminics, it generally causes less drowsiness and sedation than
promethazine.
COMPOSITION:
Each ml contains Chlorpheniramine Maleate USP 10mg.
MODE OF ACTION:
Chlorpheniramine binds to the histamine H1 receptor. This block the
action of endogenous histamine, which subsequently leads to
temporary relief of the negative symptoms brought on by histamine
INDICATION:
Eczema, dermatitis, urticaria, skin edema, insect bites,
photodermatitis, rhinitis, tail eczema in horses, stomatitis, toxic hoof
horns and inflammation of the hooves of cattle, serum shock, paresis
during pregnancy, puerperal toxemia, pulmonary edema in cattle ,
pulmonary emphysema in horses, toxic hypopepsia.
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:
Cattle, Horse, Sheep, Goat & Pig:
0.4-0.5 mg/kg body weight or 4-5 mL/100 kg body weight once daily
for 3-5 days.
Cats & Dog:
0.5 mg/kg body weight or 0.5mL/10 kg body weight every 24 hours
for 3-5 days.
The dosage should be adjusted individually. If possible small doses
are given first because it has often been shown that anti-allergic
drugs are effective in comparatively small doses. May be
administered intramuscularly or intravenously.

Well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract
