“Leadership GBA has been a tremendous part of my growth as a community banker. I always look forward to the
annual conference and meeting with bankers around the state that I now call friends. The atmosphere is relaxing
and really allows you to get to know the attendees better and learn about their banks and the roles they play in
their institutions. By developing these relationships at the conference, I have been able to reach out to many of
these folks and seek their advice or assistance on matters that arise at our bank during the year. I am very
thankful to my bank for the investment they are making in my career by allowing me to attend. Ponte Vedra is a
wonderful location, and I am looking forward to another great conference this year!” Colin Stokes,

Letter from the President
Dear Leadership GBA Members:
Tuesday, July 21, 2015
Leadership GBA’s focus is not only on recognizing the changes in the banking industry, but also on understanding their implications and
translating that information into useful knowledge.
The purpose of the GBA Leadership Conference is to promote leadership development, encourage public awareness of the banking
industry, create networking opportunities, and educate bankers about the legislative process. The Leadership GBA Executive Committee
has planned a great program this year that contains important information to help you stay informed about the issues that affect our
industry. You’ll receive an economic update from Tim Quinlan of Wells Fargo, along with a legislative update from GBA President and
CEO Joe Brannen. Nick Schuster with CashTrans will explore the look and feel of the bank of tomorrow, Jonathan Hightower with Bryan
Cave, will share his thoughts about M&As and how they will affect future bank leaders, and James Moore, with Steve Powell & Company,
will discuss fair lending and loan pricing. We’ll close this year’s conference with James Olson taking you inside the real world of being a
CIA spy.
The Leadership Conference also provides an excellent opportunity for you to network with your colleagues from around the state. Several
events are planned to allow you to spend time with your fellow bankers.

Imagine living a lie for 31 years. That’s what James
Olson and his wife Meredith did while spying for the
CIA. Spying for his country was the furthest thing
from his mind when Olson, a farm boy from Iowa,
received a mysterious phone call that changed his
life forever. In his presentation, Olson takes you
inside the real world of being a CIA spy. He
describes the rigorous training they receive and the
difficult dilemmas that they face in the field on a

war on terror affects everyone and why the United
States needs spies to protect the country and its
vital interests.
