Personal Biography
March 2015
I was raised an only child in the small coal mining town of Tamaqua, PA where many of my family still
reside. During high school, I participated in a variety of sports: Baseball, Swimming and Tennis. I also
earned my Eagle Scout Rank and Brotherhood membership in the Order of the Arrow while involved
with Boy Scout Troop 76. As a youth member in Hawk Mountain Council, I was selected to serve on
their Junior Leader Training Program for two years, once as Senior Patrol Leader.
Upon high school graduation, I attended East Stroudsburg University (ESU) in the Pocono Mountains,
Monroe County, PA. The major I decided to study was an interest I discovered through many of my Boy
Scout trips to parks and forests: Outdoor Recreation and Park Management. While at ESU, I was a
lifeguard and also employed by a local department store. I served as the President of the Outdoor
Recreation and Park Management Majors Club and participated as a member of a social fraternity. I
completed my senior internship with Minsi Trails Council as an Assistant Camp Director for their Cub
Scout Resident Camp, Akelaland.
After completion of my internship, I was offered full time employment with the Boy Scouts. I served in a
wide variety of leadership roles for two councils; Minsi Trails Council, Lehigh Valley, PA and Cradle of
Liberty Council, Philadelphia, PA (see resume for specific duties). I’ve deliberately taken time moving
through the different levels of the BSA profession with the intent of becoming well rounded before
considering a Scout Executive position.
In my personal life, my wife Ann Marie and I have been married almost 12 years and have two
wonderful children. Our son, Blaine, is a 10 year old Webelos Scout who enjoys baseball, hiking,
camping and competitive archery. Our daughter, Julia, is 7 years old and enjoys tap and ballet dance in
addition to softball. Both Ann Marie and I are active members in our church and school. Ann Marie
coordinates one of the school’s largest fundraising activities and serves on the church choir and as a
cantor. She is a graduate of Mansfield University in Pennsylvania with a degree in Music Therapy. I
enjoy serving as the chair for our annual church festival and actively participate as a member of our
school’s advisory board.
