Passes are sold at the Community Center, Nelson Sports Complex and Plum Grove Park. Pass photo ID’s can be taken at the
Nelson Sports Complex Ice Arena office and the Community Center.

Enjoy the flexibility of both aquatic facilities. With the Splash Pass you can spend the day at Plum Grove Park or Nelson Sports
Complex. The Splash Pass includes both pools and allows you to visit either one any day. More choices, more fun! Gain access to

Pool and Splash Pad Closures
Pool Regulations
Pools close if:
• Air temperature is below 68 degrees or inclement weather
prohibits opening.
• Patron attendance is below 20 within a one-hour time frame.
• Home swim meets at Nelson Sports Complex.
• If there is a mechanical breakdown at the pool.
If the pool closes at opening time for inclement weather, please
periodically check the hotline for a determination of reopening.
If inclement weather occurs during evening hours, the pool will not
reopen.

If the Thor Guard Lightning Prediction System sounds, the pool will
close until the all clear sounds.
Specific Attraction Rules
Diving Boards
• Only one person allowed on the diving board at a time.
• Diver must leave the board from his/her feet and dive straight off the board. Diving to the side is prohibited.
• After diving, swimmers must exit the area immediately.
Swimming in the diving area is prohibited.
• Adults may not “catch” children off of the boards.
• Divers must be able to swim to the side unassisted to be able to use boards or platforms.
Water Slide
• No food or drink is allowed in other than specially designated and controlled sections of the pool area.
• Personal conduct within the pool facility must be such that the safety of self and others is not jeopardized. No running or rough play.
• Only clean footwear, baby strollers or wheelchairs are allowed in the pool area or bathhouse.
• All apparel worn in the pool shall be clean. Bathing suits with liners are recommended. Staff has the right to deny access into the pool if we feel your apparel is not clean or suitable for our public facility.
• Only Coast Guard approved flotation devices are allowed in the pool. Parents/Guardians must be within arms distance if a child is wearing a flotation device. (NSC)
• Children are not allowed on slides and diving boards with flotation devices.
• No fins, masks and or snorkels are allowed in the pool. (NSC)
• All children who are not toilet trained shall wear tightly fitting rubber or plastic pants or swim diapers.
• Diving is only permitted in the diving well area.
• You must be at least 48’’ to go down the slide. No exceptions.
• No one under 8 years of age is allowed in the pool unless under adult supervision.
• Pool management has the authority to implement and enforce rules that are more stringent or that supplement those listed here.
• All children must be supervised by an adult while in the tot pool.
• Children ages 6 and up are requested to walk thru the appropriate locker room. (NSC)
•  All users must be at least 48” tall to ride the slide.
•  Swim tests may be given by a Pool Supervisor or appointed
lifeguard if necessary.
•  Metal objects, eyeglasses, locker keys, metal snaps and jewelry are not allowed on the slide.
•  You must slide down in a sitting position or lying on their back, feet first.
•  Hands must be kept inside the flume.
Splash Pad
• Children must be supervised at all times.
• Clean footwear is required, aqua socks are recommended.
• Climbing on fences and water features is prohibited.

Thor Guard
Lightning Prediction System
“A Proactive Solution for Lightning Safety”
Aquatics
Thor Guard operates 7 days per week, 8 am-11 pm from April thru November.
A warning horn will sound a 15 second blast when a potentially dangerous
weather situation is approaching. Clear the field immediately and seek proper
shelter. Wait for the ALL CLEAR (3 short blasts). If no all clear signal sounds
after 20 minutes please leave the program. This policy applies to all outdoor
programming for youth and adults.

2015 Swim Lessons
The Rolling Meadows Park District Learn to Swim Program is designed to teach students to swim in an environment that is safe, educational, interactive and fun.
Instructors teach a variety of skills including: safety skills, floats, glides, front crawl, back crawl, breast stroke, side stroke and butterfly. Learn to Swim classes
are held Monday through Thursday. There will be a test the first day of class to determine if your child is registered for the appropriate level. Changes may be
made if the child could benefit from a different class.

Learn to Swim Class Descriptions
Parents/Tots: 6 months to 3 years old
(Parents must get into water)
This class is designed to help familiarize infants/children to
the water and prepare them for the swim lesson program.
Parents will learn safety information and techniques to help
teach their children outside of class. Participants will sing
songs, blow bubbles and interact with the water.
Tots: 3 to 5 years old
This class teaches fundamentals of water safety and
swimming skills. Students learn basic skills and various
strokes. Tots will use the tot pool and lap pool.
Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills (Ages 6+)
Students will learn to feel comfortable in the water with
the assistance of the instructor. All students will be taught
pool safety rules, introduction skills, including floating and
kicking.
Level 2: Fundamentals of Aquatic Skills
Students will review and build on skills taught in level 1.
Students will learn to float on their front and back
unassisted. Front and back crawl will be taught as well.
Level 3: Stroke Development
Students will further develop the skills previously taught.
Introduction to safety tips, diving and treading water are
part of this course.
Level 4: Stroke Improvement
Level 5/6: Swimming and Skill Proficiency
Students will continue to refine strokes while developing
endurance. The butterfly stroke will be introduced along
with open race turns. Students work on breathing techniques and will swim longer distances. At the end of this
level, students should consider joining the swim team.
