RACE DISTANCES: Kurt Barkley 5K, RockyFest 10K & 20K – All races start at 8:30 AM
FEE: $20 for the 5K, 10K, and 20K if postmarked by April 24, 2015. There is an
additional $10 fee for all races after April 24, 2015 including race day. T-shirts are
not included in the registration fee. Please include an additional $10 if you would
like a t-shirt.
Make checks payable to Alexander County. No refunds. Mail check and completed

All proceeds from the RockyFest Trail races will go to Rocky Face Park.
COURSE: The 5K course travels up Grindstone Trail to the campground onto
Stairway to Heaven Trail, which has almost 600 feet of climb in one-half mile,
turning onto Hollow Rock Trail (old section), turning right on the loop and down
Hollow Rock to Grindstone and down to the finish. The 10K course travels up
Grindstone Trail, down Prison Camp Trail, up Hollow Rock Trail, turning down
Grindstone, turning at the campground onto Stairway to Heaven, turning onto

Hollow Rock Trail (old section) to the loop, left and around Hollow Rock Trail to
Grindstone and down to the finish at the picnic shelter. The 20K does the 10K
course twice.
The start and finish line are the same for all races – picnic shelter.
This is a very beautiful and challenging course.
SPECIAL NOTICE TO ALL RUNNERS: Any 5K runner who can complete the course in
under 30 minutes, any 10K runner who can complete the course in under 60
minutes, and any 20K runner who can complete the course in under 120 minutes
will have their registration fee (not fee for t-shirt) REFUNDED.

No 20K race in 2014
ALEXANDER COUNTY POINTS CHALLENGE: The RockyFest 2015 Trail Run is included
in the Alexander County Points Challenge Race 2015.
AWARDS: Special awards go to the top 3 overall males and females in all races. All
finishers will receive a custom finisher medal. Awards will be presented as you
finish. There are no age group awards.
PACKET PICK-­‐UP:
Race numbers and shirts may be picked up at Rocky Face
Mountain Recreational Area (3451 Rocky Face Church Road, Hiddenite, NC 28636)
on Friday, May 8, 2015 from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM.
Late registrations will also be accepted at that time. Race day registration will be
available at the picnic shelter starting from 7:00 AM until 8:00 AM on Saturday,
May 9, 2015.
DIRECTIONS TO ROCKY FACE MOUNTAIN RECREATIONAL AREA: From U.S. 64 East
(from Taylorsville) turn left onto Millersville Road or from U.S. 64 West (from
Statesville) take a right onto Millersville Road and travel to the stop sign. Take a
left onto Highway 90 and then a right onto White Plains Road. Travel to the stop
sign and take a right onto Rocky Springs Road. Turn left onto Rocky Face Church
