The Lafayette-based program works with area medical providers
to facilitate low-cost or free screenings for breast and cervical
cancers for uninsured or under-insured women in 23 Indiana
counties. Screenings and services include mammograms,
breast ultrasounds, biopsies, Pap tests, pelvic exams, and
colposcopies. Within Tippecanoe County, transportation to and from
appointments, and interpretation services for Spanish-speaking
patients can be arranged. When a woman is diagnosed with breast
or cervical cancer the program offers patient navigation and helps
link them to treatment funding and other community resources they
may need to support them in treatment and remove any barriers to
receiving proper care.

ABOUT THE YWCA WOMEN'S CANCER PROGRAM
The YWCA Women’s Cancer Program strives to eliminate the
inequities in health care experienced by many women, by removing
barriers to access and promoting effective community-based
outreach, education and referrals to appropriate clinical services.
The YWCA Women’s Cancer Program staff can provide
educational presentations on breast and cervical health. Topics
can include: risk factors, screening recommendations, facts and
statistics, breast health awareness, and information on local
resources. Printed materials are available in English and Spanish.
A special presentation called “Hats Off to Breast Cancer Myths,”
available for women’s groups, is a humorous yet educational look at
excuses for not getting mammograms.

The YWCA Women’s Cancer Program is a department of the
YWCA Greater Lafayette and is funded by the Avon Foundation
Breast Care Fund, United Way of Greater Lafayette, the Indiana
State Department of Health Breast and Cervical Cancer Program,
Susan G. Komen for the Cure Central Indiana Afiliate, the Indiana
Breast Cancer Awareness Trust, and private donations and fundraising events such as Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health and Unity
Healthcare’s Ultimate Pink Party.

It's hard to believe that it's been eleven years since Twin
City Collision sponsored the irst "Swing for a Cure Classic"
golf outing. We've had a lot of fun with it over the years
and a lot has changed. The event has grown many times

yet. Our goal this year is to raise $30,000 for the YWCA
