Suffolk Coastal District & Felixstowe Town Council Elections
7 May 2015
Conservatives have frozen your District Council Tax for the 4 years
since the last election — and again for next year. We have done this not
by huge cuts to services, but by working more efficiently.
We created a new Community Enabling Scheme, using money gained
from “New Homes Bonus”, not Council Taxes. That allows £4000 per
year per councillor to help local community projects and groups.
Unemployment here has dropped from 2.1% in 2012 to only 0.7% now,
due to our policies to encourage and support businesses large and
small, which we pledge to continue.
We will continue to develop the Landguard area to be even better than
it is now, including progressing a £3M bid for Lottery funding , as a
great place for both visitors and Felixstowe people to enjoy
We will continue energetically to seek out new ways to bring you high
quality services at lower cost, like the examples inside.

About Peter
About Andy
Peter has been a District Councillor for Felixstowe South Ward since 2007.
Originally from London, Peter trained as a Telecommunications technician working for
the Plessey Company, studying at Wandsworth and Willesden Colleges.
Andy is married with 2 grown-up children, and 4 grandchildren. He comes from a
Felixstowe family and returned to the town to live 38 years ago.
He has also lived in Haverhill and in Nottingham where he was Training Manager for DS
Ltd. Following redundancy Peter had experience as a support worker, working with
adults with learning disabilities, and has been a Library Assistant with Suffolk
Libraries.
Married with a graduate son, Peter now works as a Helpdesk Support Engineer for DTech International, supporting self-service systems in Libraries, Universities and
Academies in UK and across the world.
Previously he represented the Telecommunications Industry Association on
Telecommunications Vocational Standards Council, and was a Suffolk Link Board
member.
Peter is currently a member of Health Watch Suffolk, as well as Norfolk and Suffolk
Foundation Trust.
He was a Design Engineer, and later a Computer Manager, now retired.
Andy has been a Town Councillor for 32 years, is Chairman of the Plans Committee,
and a District Councillor for 24 years, where he is Deputy Leader and Cabinet
Member for Economic Development and Coast Defence.
He led the campaign over many years for new sea defences for Suffolk and
Felixstowe, meeting each of last 4 Floods Ministers, the current and previous
Chairmen of the Environment Agency and many others. He is the Coastal
Representative on the Regional Flood Committee, and Chairman of the Local
Government Association’s Coastal Group, with direct access to all areas of
Government affecting the coast.
He says “I am totally committed to the town & community of Felixstowe. I am so
pleased that we secured the funds to completely upgrade town’s sea defences over
recent years. But we need to continue to fight for the town’s interests and its future
in many other ways - and we will“
