Job Purpose:
The Director of the Behavioral Health Department is responsible for the administration, guidance and
supervision of the Behavioral Health Services, which includes mental health, social service and
substance abuse services for the Sonoma County Indian Health Project, Inc. community. Oversees the
study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders.
Qualifications:
 Licensed Psychologist, MFCC, or LCSW
 Master’s in Social Work (must be licensed eligible by the California Department of Consumer
Affairs, Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), as in LCSW; or Doctorate in psychology and
licensed to practice psychology in the state of California required.
 At least seven (7) years experience in the behavioral health field and at least two years’
experience in a clinical setting preferred
 At least five (5) years management experience
Other Skills:
 Knowledge of Native American history, culture, trauma and other issues
 Ability to work with a wide range of psychiatric treatment issues
 Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures
 A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
 Ability to manage and oversee grants
Special Qualifications: Must be sensitive to the needs of the Native American Community, which
includes their culture, traditions, behavioral patterns, and background.
