THE LONGSCAR HALL - I have continued to campaign
for regeneration action to be taken across the Sea Front, in
particular the demolition of the Longscar Centre. These efforts
are now coming to fruition with the emerging new youth and
community facilities expected in Seaton Park and the likely
Compulsory Purchase and demolition of the Centre.
ALLOWANCES – I voted against, and refused to accept,
the inflation busting increase in allowances for councillors.
Labour and Conservative councillors joined forces to agree
this change, again lining their own pockets.
YOUR VOICE – I fought for residents to have a say
on the imminent Combined Authority, dubbed by many
as ‘Super Cleveland’. Again, blocked by Labour and
Conservative who refuse to listen to residents.
ACCOUNTABILITY - I encourage accountability and as
such have taken a very active role in monthly Ward Surgeries
where many residents have attended with problems and
queries. To my recollection, I have only missed one of these in
5 years.
THE HOSPITAL - I have lobbied the council’s ‘political

leadership’ to take action on the reducing services at
University Hospital of Hartlepool, including the proposal of
several motions. Sadly, the inept leadership of the Labour
and Conservative coalition have acted against these motions,
delaying any progress and supporting the deterioration in
services.
For the past 5 years, it has been a
pleasure to represent residents in
Seaton as an Independent local ward
councillor. I am passionate about
Seaton and Hartlepool and have
always done what I believe is best for
the area and the town as a whole.
LANDFILL - I continually lobbied the council to see the
cessation and capping off of the two landfill sites at the North
End of Seaton. This thankfully came to an end during the
Summer of 2014 when both sites were eventually capped.
Additionally, I have made various representations to the
Environment Agency, The Local Planning Authority and The
National Planning Inspector regarding the Seaton Meadows
Landfill Site, including participating in the Public Inquiry. I will
continue to do so until that site is also closed and remediated.
RESPONSIVE - I have replied to and acted upon every
single letter, phone call and email received from residents. This
has had many successful conclusions for residents across the
town.
FINANCES - I have fought for efficiencies to save you,
the tax payer, significant sums, including initiating a new
ICT contract which saved £millions. This saving did not rely
on cutting services, simply better buying. Sadly, the current
administration is balancing the books by slashing services. SEACOAL - In recent weeks, I supported the plight of
the ‘Sea Coal Families’ to retain access to the Beach after
a sudden change in policy to prevent them from earning
a living from this ancient trade. After being let down and
prevented from working by Labour Councillors, I tabled a
sensible motion to Council which brought about regained
access and those families being able to once again earn a
wage. This positive action has led to the beach area being
cleaned up prior to the busy Easter Weekend.
And this is only a tiny part of my work over the last 5 years...
I want to bring about similar positive
changes over the next four years
throughout the ward.
•I am just like you!
I live within the area, I work
hard and I care about the area
that I live in. I am disappointed
by the downturn in Seaton
Carew as a resort, and the
lack of investment in the area
while others flourish.
•I am a true
independent!
I have no allegiance to any
political party in Hartlepool.
I have never been a member
of any party and don’t intend
on starting now. I don’t want
a party whip deciding what
happens in our area. Recent
council meetings confirm
that being a party member
is not in the best interests
of a councillor’s ward with
Labour and Conservative
Councillors voting as their
‘leaders’ instruct, often
against their own moral
judgement.

Whether it is about the lack of
provision for our children and
teenagers, the terrible state
of our roads or any reduction
in services – I will take on
the challenge. Seaton Ward
deserves a councillor who
will fight the corner at every
opportunity and not simply
ignore what is happening
around them.
