Pain Syndromes
Coordinators: Robert Gerwin and Vadim Tachlykov
A workshop on the myogenic or muscular basis of headache
will present for discussion the most recent findings that
relate myofascial triggers to the development of tension type
headache as well as triggering the trigeminal vascular
cascade that leads to migraine headache. There will be
demonstrations of the examination of the relevant
musculature, and of treatment by deep dry needling. Common
and uncommon muscles, including the levator scapulae, the
anterior scalene, the longus colles, zygomaticus, and oblique
capitis inferior muscles, will be featured. There will be an
opportunity to practice deep dry needling under the guidance
of experienced clinicians. The workshop will start at 09:00
and end at 16:00 and includes lunch and coffee breaks.
