TOUCH OF GLASS CORVETTE CLUB NEWSLETTER
VETTE CHATTER
Volume 11 - Issue 9 - September 2012
At least once a year the TOGCC plans a weekend run to Mena, AR.
This year we had seven cars and Bruce meet up at Peters Chevrolet on August 4th. From there we made our way up to our first stop at Beavers Bend
State Park.

One of our fun stops is in Beavers Bend State Park Log Cabin Restaurant.
After Lunch it was on to Talimean Drive. Talimean Drive is a winding mountain road that was
apparently made for no other reason than for Corvettes to enjoy. You will occasionally find a
Viper or Motorcycle on this road. Our next stop was for ice cream at the rest stop high atop
this mountain Winding Stair National Recreation Area, Talimean Scenic Byway.

After another 10 miles or so we dropped down in Mena, AR to spend the rest of the day. A
couple of the ladies made a short shopping trip. A couple took naps. And the rest gathered
around the pool at the Sun Country Inn. Then on to the Chopping Block Steakhouse.

After salads, baked potatoes, and some of the finest steaks around it was back to the motel
to enjoy a beer or other beverage and the stories. This was a first class trip for a first class
Corvette Club. What happened on this trip is open for all. Next year we can double up.

“Corvettes on the Rockies”
By Roving Reporter and TOGCC Charter Member Ed Rohner
This year we only had one TOGCC member make it to “Corvettes on the Rockies”. Ed was good
enough to send us several pictures. I’m going to include some of them here for your viewing enjoyment.
TOGCC has participated in Corvettes on the Rockies in past years. Previously this show was held in
Breckenridge, CO and this year moved to Winter Park. If we plan ahead this might be a good trip for us
to attend next year.

“Dinner Run to Rear of The Steer-Omaha”
Saturday Aug.25 we had 20 TOGCC members meet at Peters Chevrolet for a diner run to
Omaha, TX. All was going well until we got to Lone Star where Evan & Linda Spicer had a blow
out. Needless to say this ruined the day for the Spicers. After a road side repair they returned to Longview. The rest of us continued to Omaha and had dinner at the Rear of The
Steer. I heard no complaints, The food was good. We’ll put this on our list.
Good Friends, good food, outstanding beautiful Corvettes,
and short drive on some of
the best East Texas Roads.

“Very Sad Day”
Wednesday August 29 we lost our very good friend. Chuck McGregor was a Charter and
founding member of the Touch Of Glass Corvette Club. For several years Chuck was Ac-
tivity Director, planned our Colorado Vacations, road rallies, and was Ambassador to the
Corvette Museum. Chuck loved the most powerful Corvettes, he had many down through
the years. He loved Mustangs, drag racing and helping everyone within and outside of the
Club. Chuck was my traveling buddy, and I do miss him. Dennis
