Wednesday, December 16
Enjoy this unforgettable holiday show featuring a 15 member
cast. You’ll hear many genres of music, along with tunes
from Broadway including many Holiday songs. Shoji is
back by popular demand from his theater in Branson; his
inspirational story is the “stuff ” that dreams are made of.
His showmanship talents are unequaled anywhere. This is a
“MUST SEE” performance that you won’t want to miss.
The art of creating beautiful custom clothing has always
entailed workmanship that is hidden when the pieces are
worn. This exhibition showcases these secret inner-workings.
Pieces selected span the 18th – 20th century and in some
cases the insides are as beautiful as the outsides. Lunch at the
Pufferbelly Ltd., located in the heart of Kent, once served as
the main railway depot in the area and has been fully restored
into a restaurant with historic appeal. Lunch is on your own.

Wednesday, February 3
A hot spot in Harlem in the 1920's and 30's was the Cotton
Club, the citadel of the New York jazz scene; its stage filled
with the greatest musical and theatrical talent this country
has ever produced like Lena Horne, Duke Ellington, Cab
Calloway, Bill “Bojangles” Robinson. But the club also
embodied American racism, with a “whites-only” admittance
policy that sent its performers to the kitchen for supper. Join
us as we document this chapter in the history of American
entertainment, hosted by Bill Rudman and Paul Ferguson.
The acclaimed Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra
performs in the magnificent Severance Hall five times
during the year, thanks to the generous donations of various
benefactors. Carl Topilow will be conducting. At the time of
this printing, the selections being performed at this concert
have not been published.

Seymour is a nerdy floral clerk with a knack for plants, but
not much else. One peculiar plant he’s tending might just
be his ticket to fame, fortune – and the girl of his dreams.
There’s only one teeny – but “growing” – problem.” This
plant has an unquenchable thirst for the red stuff (type O.A.
or B…it’s not picky). Mixing Motown, B-movies, and The
American Dream, Little Shop of Horrors is the screamingly
funny, gleefully twisted, out-of-this-world hit musical.
DROGONETTE (String Quintet No. 18 in C Major),
PROKOFIEV (Quintet for Oboe, Clarinet, Violin, and Double
Bass in G Minor) and SCHUBERT (Piano Quintet in A
Major “Trout) will be the three composers whose works will
be performed. Principal players this evening are: Mari Sato –
violin, Annie Fullard – violin, Laura Shuster – viola, Tanya Ell
– cello, Tracy Rowell – double bass, Frank Rosenwein – oboe,
Daniel Gilbert – clarinet, and Anita Pontremoli – piano.

If/Then is a contemporary Broadway musical about living
in New York today – and all the possibilities of tomorrow.
With unforgettable songs and a deeply moving story by the
Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning creators of Next to
Normal, this fascinating, ambitious, and original new musical
simultaneously follows one woman’s two possible life paths,
painting a deeply moving portrait of the lives we lead, as well
as the lives we might have led.
In The Heights is Broadway’s Tony Award-winning Best
Musical about chasing your dreams and finding your true
home. This musical tells the story of a vibrant community
in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a
community on the brink of change, full of hopes and dreams,
where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions
you take with you and which ones you leave behind. In the
Heights is a groundbreaking 21st century musical!

WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS
Tuesday, November 10
In August 2002, seventy five women wearing red hats
and purple outfits tossed balloons in the air outside the
community center to commemorate the creation of the
Red Hattitudes. During the past 13 years we have been
a very warm, friendly group of women who have enjoyed
each other’s company at many events and formed lasting
friendships along the way. Now, as happens over time, and
with the retirement of our reigning queen mum, we find
ourselves with the need to restructure our chapter. In order
to do that, we call upon YOU, our sisters, for your most
needed input and support so that the Red Hattitudes can
continue and succeed. Please join our meeting.
