18th ANNUAL HNPHOCKEY GOLF TOURNAMENT
PARTICIPANTS JUNE 2015
I have been receiving many phone calls regarding our tournament so I decided to get this to you
earlier than planned. It’s great to know how much enthusiasm and interest there is. Please pass
the following information along to anyone else who you think may be interested.
The dates for this year are June 13 – 15. The fee for this year is $120.00 (2-3 rounds of golf and
two dinners). Please note carts fee are not included. Each participant must bring a prize the
value of which is $20.00 or more.
I am pleased to inform you that we now have a committee and I am thankful for their
assistance. The committee consists of Mike Connolly, Bob Douglas, Wayne Ropp and Doug
Verbeem.
Doug Verbeem has volunteered to receive your cheques. He will be making the rounds at the
rink and making it easier for you to submit your fee. Please make your cheque to John Hayton
(that’s like a ton of Hay). If you wish to postdate your cheque please make it out for no later
than May 31. We would appreciate receiving your cheque prior to your last HNP Hockey game.
One entry fee per cheque please.

This event is open to HNP hockey players and their family and friends. Last year we enjoyed the
participation of Diane Irwin and three of her friends. The ladies had a great time and we
enjoyed their participation. I have had inquiries in the past about players bringing their wives to
play and look forward to having this happen soon.
This enjoyable three day event began in 1998 with HNP players travelling to Tobermory‘s Tip of
the Bruce course. It was owned at the time by one of our members, Des Sawa. When Des sold
the course he was able to find a course for us to continue the tradition. The Gravett family and
their Goderich Sunset Golf Course welcomed us and has been spoiling us ever since.

Once the names of this years’ participants are finalized you will receive by email or from a designated
team captain your tee off time for the Monday round. If you come with a foursome you will play
together for both Monday and Wednesday if you wish. Tuesday’s teams will be organized by the
committee.
When you arrive our committee will greet you and make certain that we get playing on time for our
shotgun start. Your fee includes two dinners following Monday and Tuesday rounds. Tuesday continues
to be a steak BBQ. On Wednesday we are invited to play a third round before heading home.
Participants are responsible for booking their lodging. Popular locations are : the Dunlop Motel (519 524
8781), the Maple Leaf Motel (519 524 2302), the Cedar Lodge (519 524 8379), the Silver Birch Motel
(519 524 8516), the Bedford Inn (519 524 7337), The Eldon Guest House (519 955 4402), the Harmony
Inn (519 955 4402), the Benmiller Inn (519 524 2191) and Samuel’s Hotel (519 524 1371). There are
others but these are venues booked most often in the past.
More information will be forthcoming at least two weeks before the tournament. There is no limit to the
number of participants or the number of players you invite to come and enjoy this event. Thank you
again for making last year’s gathering so successful.
