ieses Jahr sind wir mit der TopcatEuropameisterschaft am Comersee/Italien zu Gast in der Gemeinde
Domaso und dem Segelclub „Circolo Vela
Canottieri“. Auf dem „Alto Lario“, dem
oberen Comersee, werden an fünf Regattatagen die schnellsten Topcat-Segler ermittelt!

Segelclub „Circolo Vela Canottieri“
Domaso
Der Segelclub „Circolo Vela Canottieri Domaso“, eine Gesellschaft der FIV (Italienische Sailing Federation) ist bei vielen Topcat-Seglern bereits bekannt. Zum dritten
Male in Folge wird u.a. auch die diesjährige Topcat Spring-Session in Domaso von
diesem Club, in Zusammenarbeit mit dem
Hotel Europa sowie dem Wassersportcenter Domaso, durchgeführt.
Der Club-Verantwortliche, Massimo Bernasconi, verspricht uns eine professionelle
und kompetente Wettfahrtleitung sowie
größtmögliche Sicherheit auf dem Wasser
und an Land.
Domaso
Für ein schönes Rahmenprogramm wird
sich Giacomo Venini, Mitglied des Gemeindevorstandes Domaso sowie Eigentümer
des Hotels Europa einsetzen.
Das kleine Fischerdörfchen am oberen Teil
des Comersees liegt eingebettet in der idyllischen, grünen und hügeligen Landschaft
Norditaliens. Die Gemeinde Domaso verfügt über einen der längsten Strände am
Comersee und wird durch den Fluss „Livo“
zweigeteilt. Der eine Teil besteht aus einem
mittelalterlichen Dorfkern mit Relikten eines alten Klosters und einem kleinen Hafen. Der andere, neuere Teil bietet eine
moderne, den touristischen Bedürfnissen
angepasste Infrastruktur. Hier befinden
sich zahlreiche Campingplätze direkt am
See, sowie weitere Unterkunftsunternehmen.
Bestimmt werden auch die Familien und
Freunde der Topcat-Segler auf ihre Kosten
kommen. Das kann sein bei einer Wanderung in die Berge mit herrlichem Blick auf
den Lago, bei einer Tragflügelbootsfahrt
nach Como, einer Zugfahrt nach Mailand,
einem Besuch des botanischen Gartens der
bekannten Villa Carlotta in Menaggio oder
einem Bummel über die italienischen
Märkte.
Segelrevier „Alto Lario“
Der Comersee, von den Einheimischen
„Alto Lario“ genannt, ist 146 km2 groß,
51km lang, und max. 4,2km breit und erreicht eine max. Tiefe von 425m. Durch
seine charakteristische Form beträgt seine
Uferlinie 170km. Das südliche Klima mit
angenehmen Luft- und Wassertemperaturen macht die Region zum beliebten Ferien- und Wassersportziel. Der „Alto Lario“
wird aufgrund seines thermischen Windes
„Breva“ unter Wassersportlern sehr geschätzt. Dieser kann sich in den Monaten
Juni bis September voll entwickeln. Stabile
Hochdruckwetterlagen lassen den Thermikwind aufleben. Dank Leichtwind und
Flachwasser am Vormittag (1-3 Bft.) und
Gleitwind am Nachmittag (3-6 Bft.) findet

Unser Ziel ist es, dass ihr das Schiff bei
euch auf dem Campingplatz, der Hotel-/
Bungalow- oder Appartementanlage lagern
könnt. Eine zentrale Lagerung der Boote
am Strand ist nicht möglich.
Restaurants
Die italienische, kulinarische Gastfreundschaft findet man in verschiedenen typischen Restaurants und Pizzerien vor Ort
oder in romantischen Grottos am Berg.
Traditionelle Gelaterias mit leckerem,
hausgemachten Eis laden zum Verweilen
und Genießen ein.
Nützliche Infos
Der 2,5km lange Kiesstrand erlaubt einfachstes An- und Ablegen. Der See erreicht
im Sommer Temperaturen bis 24° Celsius
bei Lufttemperaturen von nicht selten 30°
und mehr.

The Topcat European Championship 2012
will take place in Italy, on Lake Como, hosted by the town of Domaso and the Yacht
Club ‘Circolo Vela Canottieri Domaso’.
Five races, depending on weather and wind
conditions, will determine the fastest Topcat Competitor.
Yacht Club „Circolo Vela Canottieri“
Domaso
Circolo Vela Canottieri Domaso (CVCD)
is a non profit sport association affiliated
to the Italian Sailing Federation. The Yacht
Club is located in Domaso (Alto Lario) in
the historical headquarters of ‘ex canottieri
Falk’. CVCD is organized in four sections:
sailing, gym/health club, water ski and rowing. The sailing section has always been
the most followed and animated thanks to
the unique wind conditions. For this reason
CVCD hosts every year national and international regattas as well as sailing camps.
CVCD is already well known by the Topcat
competitors; since 2010 CVCD has hosted
the annual Topcat Spring Session in cooperation with Hotel Europa and Wassersportcenter Domaso. Massimo Bernasconi,
responsible for the sailing section of
CVCD, runs a professional and competent
race organization as well as providing maximal security in water and on land.

Domaso
The preparation of an interesting side program has been assigned to Giacomo Venini, member of Domaso’s municipality, and
owner of Hotel Europa in Domaso. Domaso, originally a town of fishers, embedded
in an idyllic, green and hilly landscape, lies
on the west side at the top of Lake Como.
Domaso has one of the longest and nicest
beaches on the lake and is divided by the
river “Livo”. One part is a medieval village
of Roman origin with the ruins of an old
monastery and a small harbor. The remaining part is modern and has been transformed into an agreeable dynamic tourist
area. There are several camping areas situated directly at the lake shore as well as other touristic infrastructures.
There are a variety of leisure time activities
for all participants and families. The great
outdoors invites you for a mountain walking experience with wonderful sightseeing
of the lake, a speedboat trip to Como with
an unforgettable shopping experience, a trip
by train to Milan, as well as a visit of the
botanic garden of Villa Carlotta in Menaggio or a stroll around the Italian markets.
Sailing aria “Alto Lario”
Lake Como, locally called “Alto Lario”, has
a surface of 146km2, a length of 51km
and a width of max 4.2 km. Its maximal
depth is about 425m. As a result of its characteristic shape, the coastline adds up to
170 km.
Thanks to the southern climate, characterized by mild air and water temperatures,
Lake Como offers one of the best and
most challenging wind conditions due to a
thermal wind called “Breva”, a strong but
regular wind that comes in from the south
around midday and dies down as the sun
sets. This thermal wind blows regularly
starting from mid-February through the end
of October. With a light wind in the morning (1-3 m/s) and regular light breeze in
the afternoon (6-9 m/s), Domaso offers
optimal conditions for every water sport
lover. Occasionally, due to bad weather
conditions in the northern valleys like Valtellina and Val Chiavenna, the so-called
north wind, a very blustery and strong
breeze blows (above 9 m/s).
The lake can reach an average temperature
of 24 degrees Celsius in the summer and
the wind temperature not rarely exceeds
30 degrees Celsius.
Good wind conditions are almost guaranteed in the dry season of the year, for this
reason this part of Lake Como is also very
popular among wind- and kite surfers.
Accomodations
Competitors, friends and families will
have a wide choice of possible accommodations among numerous Camping sites,
Bungalows, Hotels as well as apartments.
Almost all accommodations in Domaso
are a few minutes away from the venue.
The most suitable accommodations will
be described on the ITCA Homepage.
They will offer you a solution with accommodation as well as catamaran and trailer
parking and direct access to the beach. It
won’t be possible to leave all boats centrally stored on the beach.
Restaurants
The well-known Italian hospitality is a
characteristic of many restaurants and pizzerias in Domaso or romantic grottos at
the top of the surrounding mountains.
Traditional ice cream parlours invite
everybody to stay and enjoy.
