2012 - 2013
Dear community members and supporters of Hillel of Silicon Valley,
The new Jewish and academic year is about to begin and Hillel of Silicon
Valley will be there for our students – not only to continue making long
lasting impacts on their lives, but also to help them meet their needs
through out the year. Our Jewish students, on our 5 campuses, come to
Hillel, to learn more about their Jewish heritage, share a free Shabbat
dinner, do their laundry. They participate in Tikkun Olam/Social Action
activities and advocacy and join students from around the country on a
life changing experience in Israel through Taglit-Birthright.
But we could not do this without YOU. Your invaluable support will help to
ensue Jewish continuity on our campuses and in our community.
Thank you for trusting us with the development of tomorrow’s Jewish leaders.

Dear Member of our Hillel of Silicon Valley Community,
“How wonderful is that no one need wait a single moment to
start to improve the world” - Anne Frank
Our students face the challenge of balancing demanding course
loads, part-time jobs, and a host of other activities while trying
to strengthen--or discover--their Jewish identity. Jewish college
students look to connect with other Jewish students and build
a community they can call their own, in a place they can feel
at home. That place is Hillel. Many students experience Jewish
holidays, traditions, and culture for the first time at Hillel. For others, Hillel helps them
continue practicing Jewish life with their peers and gain a deeper understanding of Israel.
Hillel of Silicon Valley endeavors to meet the needs of every Jewish student at De Anza
College, Foothill College, San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, and West Valley
College. Hillel’s goal is to inspire students to create a connection with Jewish life. Thanks
to you, we have inspired many.
Hillel’s role in the future of the Jewish community is very significant. It is crucial in
molding the future generation. College experience is perhaps one of the last portals of
influence in which to inspire Jewish students to engage in Jewish life on campus in the
hope that they will continue post-graduate lives as members of the Jewish communities.
Many of our students reside in the area and stay local after graduating from college. They
continue to connect with the Jewish community both as professionals and lay leaders. The
future of our community depends on what we all do now.
Together we are ensuring a strong Jewish Future!
