B. Sightseeing
The Huangpu River: The Huangpu River (Huangpu
Jiang) is the city's shipping artery both to the East
China Sea and to the mouth of the Yangzi River,
which the Huangpu joins 29km (18 miles) north of
downtown Shanghai. It has also become a
demarcating line between two Shanghais, east and
west, past and future.
Xintiandi: As a re-creation born out of the sprawls of
Shikumen housing, which is the architectural symbol
of Shanghai in the 20th century, Shanghai Xintiandi,
“The City’s Living-Room” is a place to unwind and
relax after a long day. Shanghai Xintiandi is where
“yesterday meets tomorrow in Shanghai today.”
Tianzifang: It is a place in shanghai you must not
miss and it is located at Kangtai Street in shanghai.
Comparing with the brand new modern buildings,
you can find the special architecture of old shanghai
city. It’s such a peaceful and quiet place to live. It is
also a good shopping area. The whole shopping area
is not so large, but you will enjoy walking here and
find out a lot of fun.

Chenghuangmiao Temple: Chenghuangmiao Temple is
located south of Yuyuan Gardan. It was built in the
fifteenth century during the Ming Dynasty. There
used to be a temple to the local deity, which the
inhabitants believed would protect them in every
city. Now it is a busy market, specializing in
traditional arts and crafts.
Qiandao Lake: Also known as Qiandaohu, it is a
giant lake with over 100 small islands. The water is
very clean and is one of the first-class natural scenic
spot. The lake covers 570 square kilometers. It is
famous for its water that it can be drunk directly!
Huangshan Scenic Area: Huangshan Scenic Area
extends about 40 km from north to south and 30 km
from east to west. As an important national scenic
area, Huang Shan was listed as a UNESCO World
Heritage Site in 1990 and as a result, the park is very
well kept and amazingly enough in China, a nonsmoking zone is strictly enforced. There are 72 peaks
in total with Lotus Peak, Brightness Apex and the
Celestial Capital Peak being the three major ones, all
towering above 1,800m.
