From The President’s Desk
Hello Club Members
Sorry I had to miss last months meeting I
was out of town with work. Have to do the
J O B from time to time. Don’t forget that
Nominations/Voting for club officers continue again for this months meeting.
REMEMBER THAT YOU CAN NOT
VOTE OR RECEIVE CLUB BENEFITS IF
YOUR DUES ARE NOT PAID. AFTER THIS
MONTH THERE WILL BE A $10.00 LATE FEE
IF YOUR DUES ARE NOT PAID IN MARCH.
Now that the BAD news is over We can get onto the
fun stuff.
Congrats to all the Dallas Auto Rama and Fort Worth
Rod & Custom show winners. We took lots of trophies at both shows and everyone’s cars looked fantastic.
Thank you to the club members who did not show
their cars but did come and help set and tear down the
club displays at both shows and greet spectators. Remember March 9th is the first race for the Muscle Car
Club Challenge at Texas Raceway in Kennedale. So
tune up the Hot Rods and Gas up your streetcars for
the start of the racing season. March 16th is the first
race at Ennis – Remember this is where we
need to hold onto our revolving plaque. So
show up and RACE.
We have come out of hibernation from the
winter and its time to get pumped up for the
races and our club car show in April. We
need lots of door prizes donations – so gather
together what you can. We now have 200
members in our club. We need lots of volunteers for the car show in April. We should have our
biggest turn out ever this year, so we will need everyone’s help.
I do want to give special recognition to Bob Carroll.
One of our newest members and he has shown up at
both indoor car shows to help set up and tear down.
Thank you Bob for all your hard work
This months meeting will be the 4th Sunday due to
the race season. See ya at the Races and at the meeting.
Marc Wadley
Cowtown Mopars President
Elections Soon!
Is it your turn to
serve a term in
office?
And More From The Vice President
Hey Mopar Friends,
This month's meeting has been moved to
the 4th Sunday because of our racing conflict. March the 23rd, 4:00 at Spring
Creek. It is an important meeting because
we make last minute nominations and vote
on board members for the upcoming year.
We had a great showing at the Dallas Auto Rama.
Five of the seven entries won awards. Thanks to
Alan Spry, Jimmy Box, Bob Graham, Ken & Lesa
Key, Tommy Martin, Tem Greene and Mike LaPointe for taking the time to show your cars.
As I am very slowly typing my entry to this month's
newsletter, the Ft. Worth Rod & Custom show is
taking place. We have six of our club members Mopars in this show. Can you believe four HEMIS and
two six pack cars.
Thanks to Tommy Martin, Tem Greene, Bob Graham, Ken & Lesa Key, Jeff Peterson and Dan Robinson for entering their cars. Regrettably other members were unable to bring their cars because of the
weather.
I also want to mention that Marcus Wadley
had both of his motorcycles in both indoor
shows and Ron Russ had his "Merc" in the Ft
Worth show. Thanks guys!
Racing season is here!!! Our 1st race is at
Kennedale March 9th and the 2nd is March
16th at the Motorplex in Ennis. We need to be
there in force to defend our title.
I hope everyone is preparing for our annual car show
in April. It's right around the corner. We need volunteers, door prizes, ... and your help. Let's all pitch in
and make it GREAT!
We only have about a third of our members who have
paid their dues for this year. They were due in January
and in order to vote in the March election you have to
have paid your dues.
See ya soon.
Beep Beep!

And
Don’t go to Chicago
or you could be
nominated for

VP Mark Buchanan called the Feb. general
membership meeting to order at 4:25 pm in the
absence of president Marc Wadley, who was
out of town. Mark introduced visitors and new
members, and also mentioned and congratulated members with cars in the Dallas

Newsletter editor Dan Robinson introduced an
amendment to the club's by-laws regarding the
privacy act of its members. This amendment

upon as a club at the next meeting.
The Texas muscle car club challenge starts again in the
month of march with a slate of races starting the 9th in
Kennedale, and moves to Ennis, Texas on the 16th, our
regular scheduled membership meeting day. Because of
this scheduling, our monthly meeting has been moved back
one week to March 23rd. Please adjust your plans accordingly.

The meeting was adjourned at 510 pm. Respectfully submitted by:
Ken Angyal,
Secretary Cowtown Mopars
Club Officer Nominations
If you’ve ever thought you would like to hold an elected office in your club then now is the time to act. Starting last month and continuing until elections at the March monthly meeting the club will be accepting nominations for all officer positions. If your not sure of the duties accompanying the office all positions are spelled
out in the newly passed club By-laws.
Don’t want to be an elected officer but still want to help out. Ask the president or another officer and I’m sure
you’ll find out there is lots of things to do to help out the club. Get involved in your club’s activities. Don’t sit
on the sidelines.

Club Bylaw Amendment
Article 11 Amendments to Bylaws
11.01. These Bylaws may be altered, amended, or repealed and new Bylaws may be adopted only upon the affirmative vote of a two-third (2/3) majority of the
membership present at a duly notice and called regular or special meeting for such purpose. Any amendment of the Bylaws must be submitted in writing to a
member of the Board of Directors, read at the first regular meeting of members following its submission, printed in the monthly newsletter, and voted on at the
next business meeting.
The above dictates the procedure for amendments to the club by-laws. I am proposing the following amendment to our current by-laws today 2/16/03. Dan
Robinson - Newsletter Editor (read at the normal club meeting on 2/16/03 and published in this newsletter)
This is the current club by-law for: Membership Director
4.09. The membership director shall keep records of all members Names, Addresses, Phone numbers and E-mail addresses. The Membership Director will
provide a complete list of Names and Addresses to the Newsletter director described in section 4.11. The Membership Director will maintain a complete roster
that shall be given to any member of the organization upon request. All moneys received will either be deposited by the Membership director or given to the
Treasurer for deposit.
This is the proposed amendment to the by-laws.
4.09b Membership Roster – Privacy Rights of Members
Each member shall have the right to have his or her personal information removed from any roster given to other club members, Vendors, or other
entity for a club discount, or any other reason. The membership director shall maintain the privacy rights of the membership in accordance with the
choice of each member. Those members not specifically requesting to be included on the discount roster will be considered to be exempt from this list.
In addition any member with a club roster may NOT use the roster for any commercial reason, mailing of commercial material, or any reason other
than personal contact of other club members for personal reasons or club business. The Board of Directors will all have access to a complete membership roster to use for conducting club business only. The Board of Directors will decide by a majority vote which vendor(s) will receive the discount
roster.
This amendment will be voted on along with club officer elections at the next membership meeting March 23, 2003.

Turbo charging
Want some kind of “power adder” that only adds power when you want it to, and not have to refill it
every time you want it to be there?
Turbos are the perfect solution to that problem. A turbocharger takes a load and an increase in throttle to work, so as long as you are just cruising down the road the airflow is not there, and so, the extra fuel is not needed to be there. Yes, I know, it sounds unbelievable, extra power, and keep your
stock gas mileage as long as you can keep your foot out of it.
Currently Speedtweaks is developing a twin turbo kit for the Dakota R/T which should be out on the
market soon. The base kit includes twin T3/T4 hybrid Turbonetics turbos and a large front mount
intercooler.
If you would like to check out the website for more information the URL is www.speedtweaks.net.
And you can even have them install it for you. The Speedtweaks shop is down near Austin (yes, its
far, but it could be a whole lot worse).
See y’all at the meeting,

Believe It Or Not
I had Les Adams to rebuild the automatic transmission on my 94 Dodge van. He replaced
many parts in the transmission and the overdrive. It was the second replacement since new
(120,000 miles).
Since I pull a loaded, enclosed trailer a lot of the time, I have a problem with the transmission getting hot, especially in the Texas summers. So Les put a transmission cooler in and beefed it
up some to see if we could get a few more miles than 60,000 out of it.
When he got finished, he said to me, “Bring me 8 qts. Of a lightweight Mobile One motor
oil and 4 qts. Of Mobile One transmission fluid.” I didn’t say anything, but I thought I must have
understood what he said, or what he was going to do with that kind of oil.
That night, in my sleep, or near sleep, I was thinking Les had gone off the deep end. There
is no way he is going to put motor oil in MY automatic transmission! I even asked some of my
“car guys” acquaintances if they had done or heard of doing such a thing. They looked at me like I
was crazy.
The next day, I bought the Mobil One motor oil. But I also bought a case of Dextron 3,
like I have been using for years, just in case. Believe it or not, Les put in the 8 qts. Of Mobil One
motor oil and 4 qts. Of Mobil One transmission fluid in MY transmission.
It not only worked, it still works GREAT!! The transmission runs very cool and shifts
smoothly.

COWTOWN MOPAR OF THE MONTH
Kim Humphrey’s 1974 Dodge Dart Sport
I bought this car back in 1995 from a guy in Dallas. It was set up to run
NMCA at the time with nitrous and a 360 with W2 heads. I soon took off the
nitrous and built a 340 with the W2 heads so I could bracket race the car. It has
been a consistent money winner since then. It has paid for itself several times
over.
For the 2003 season it has a 360 with W5 heads and a street roller cam. I
run the 904 automatic with a 3500 stall converter, 8 3/4 with 4.88 gears. It is
all steel and still street legal.
Thanks,
Kim Humphrey
