Marketplace Overview
■ The four year pricing free fall is starting to hint at possibly slowing, but is not expected to reverse significantly
in the near term. Overall, buyers continue to have the advantage.
■ Transactions increased during the past year, especially in the United States, but the inflow of additional aircraft for sale, particularly from Europe, continues to hold prices down.
■ Most activity is occurring in model years since 1998, which has been the scenario for some time now. Older aircraft that have pricing expectations not aligned with the current marketplace realities tend to remain unsold for extended periods of time.
■ Declining sale prices on several aircraft are stimulating activity and increasing transactions. Other models, however, are at or near record-high inventory levels.

Hawker 800B Market Summary
T
he number of available aircraft varied
from seven to nine in 2012. Inventory
began the year at eight units and finished with
nine (+13%). In the U.S., there were no aircraft
for sale until mid-year when two came onto
the market. Internationally, available aircraft
dropped from eight to six before ending the
period at seven (-13%).
Average asking prices reflected additional
aircraft becoming available. From $2,561,250
in January 2012, market values decreased
sporadically throughout the year. They
accelerated downward much more rapidly
during the third quarter, then remained
static for the remainder of the period to end
$250,000 lower at $2,311,250 (-9.8%).

from 20 to 15 (-25%). The fleet percentage
for sale went down from 12.3 in the third
quarter of 2012 to 10 percent year end.

sale, average asking prices dropped
substantially. Over the preceding year,
market value decreased more than one-half
million dollars. Beginning at $3,881,957,
by year end the level dropped $596,958 to

Hawker 850XP Market Summary
A
slight drop of two aircraft for sale from
15 to 13 (-13%) was recorded in 2012.
Throughout the year, inventory increased to
17 before ending at 13. While U.S. available
units increased from three to six (+100%),
aircraft elsewhere dropped by five from 12 to
seven (-42%). Percentage of the fleet for sale
shrank from 14.1 in the third quarter of 2012
to 13.1 at year end.
Fewer aircraft for sale should, by conventional
wisdom, impact market values positively.
However, during the preceding 12 months,
average asking price plummeted $1,323,036
from $7,634,286 to $6,311,250 (-17.3%),
despite an increase in the fourth quarter
of $120,417.

four to six (+50%). This model differed from
the overall business aircraft market during
the preceding 12 months in regard to United
States versus international availability.

his model is being impacted by the
Hawker Beechcraft (HBC) bankruptcy, as
are all jets from this manufacturer. However,
actions taken by the company in regard to
warranty coverage and support programs are
expected to have adverse effects that have
not yet shown up in the transaction numbers
and values. Completed aircraft, units still on
the production line, and used inventory owned
by HBC being “monetized” are expected to
increase the number of transactions, but exert
extreme downward pressure on pricing.
Aircraft for sale varied between five and eight
units before ending with an inventory of seven
(+40%). Most of the increase was in the U.S.
where availability went up from three to six
(+100%). Internationally-based aircraft declined
one unit from two to one (-50%).
