The X-Twelve combines Shoei’s 55 years of helmet building experience with the very latest technology and
The X-Twelve features the most complex ventilation system available in any helmet - five (5) intake and ten (10) exhaust
vents make it the most aggressively ventilated helmet SHOEI has ever produced. Wind tunnel testing identified the

3D MAX DRY INTERIOR SYSTEM
CW-1 SHIELD
The X-Twelve is equipped with a fully removable, washable, and replaceable 3D Max Dry comfort
liner. SHOEI’s Max Dry material has been proven to absorb and dissipate sweat twice as fast as
traditional nylon interiors. In addition, the X-Twelve’s interior components are three-dimensionally
shaped to match the contours of a rider’s head.
The CW-1 shield offers exceptional vertical and
peripheral vision and protects SHOEI riders from
99% of the sun’s damaging UVA and UVB rays.
Our three-dimensional injection-molding process
ensures optically perfect, distortion free vision. All
CW-1 visors come preprared for SHOEI’s optional
Pinlock system. Insert the accessory Pinlock film
to deliver fog-free vision in any conditions. The new
CW-1 Pinlock lens offers fog-free viewing to the
very top of the helmet’s larger eye port.

Q.R.S.A BASE PLATE SYSTEM
SHOEI’s Quick Release Self-Adjusting (QRSA) base plate system
allows you to change visors fast! Split-second visor release and
attachment is easy, plus a dual stage closure system means your
visor seals perfectly. Every time the shield is lowered, the springloaded base plates pull the shield back to contact the window
beading evenly, ensuring a perfect wind and waterproof seal every
time! The visor preset lever assists in de-fogging.
AIM+ SHELL CONSTRUCTION
(Snell M2010-Approved)
SHOEI’s unique AIM+ technology combines
fibreglass with high strength organic fibres. The
end result is a strong, light shell that will absorb and
distribute impact forces over a large area to provide
the highest possible level of safety.

AERO EDGE 2 SPOILER
The X-Twelve’s Aero Edge 2 Spoiler helps minimize
lift at high speeds, and reduces wind drag and
buffeting to the rider. In addition, the spoiler increases
negative air pressure to improve exhaust ventilation
performance.
CHIN CURTAIN
The chin curtain can be inserted into the lower edge
of the chin bar to reduce wind turbulence and noise.

convenient flip-down internal sun shield, free-flowing yet easily adjustable ventilation system, superior
aerodynamics, and Pinlock Anti-Fog System ensure greater comfort and thus more time in the saddle
than ever before. Answer the call of the open road in SHOEI’s first internal sun shield-equipped full-face
helmet—the progressively stylish GT-Air.
The new internal qsv-1 sun shield gives riders instant relief from
sun glare in one quick motion. The large, easily located switch
activates the 3d injection-molded inner shield up and down and
is infinitely adjustable to any position.
The sunshield is 100% distortion-free and also blocks 99% of
the sun’s damaging uv rays. Unique to shoei, the forehead area
of outer shell is raised slightly to accommodate the internal sun
shield, allowing for the integrity of the helmet’s inner eps liner
to remain intact so there is no compromise to safety in this key
impact area. The sun shield also exceeds ANSI Z80.3-2010
Standard for Non-Prescription Eyewear.
PROGRESSIVE SHELL DESIGN
The new GT-Air’s Wind Tunnel-Tested Aerodynamics have
been created in Shoei’s own high speed wind-tunnel facility.
Features like the Shell-Integrated Spoiler Reduces Lift and
Drag, and the strong, lightweight AIM+ Shell Construction
results in world leading safety.
EMERGENCY QUICK RELEASE SYSTEM
(EQRS)
The EQRS system allows emergency medical personnel to easily
and safely remove the cheek pads from an injured rider’s helmet.

minimal load placed on his/her neck
NOISE-REDUCTION TECHNOLOGY
Shoei’s noise reduction technology has been refined in SHOEI’s In-House Wind
Tunnel, resulting in a reduction of unwanted wind and road noise. This has
been achieved through multiple upgrades and thorough redesign of the shell,
ventilation, visor mechanism and interior liner.
MULTI-PIECE EPS LINER

VENTILATION PERFORMANCE
Large upper and lower vent shutters flow cool air throughout
the helmet, and simple design means ease of use with riding

CNS-1 SHIELD
The new CNS-1 visor has a wider and taller field of vision, protects
from 99% of the Sun’s Damaging UV Rays and offers Distortion-Free
view throughout the entire field of vision. it also comes equipped with
a Pinlock® Fog-Resistant System.
QR-N BASE PLATE SYSTEM
The new QR-N base plate system offers smooth and easy

compact, streamlined helmet with next-level functionality, SHOEI’s NXR has evolved the pursuit of
perfection to an all-new level.
Dual-Layer, Multi-Density EPS liner not only provides enhanced impact
absorption by utilizing varying densities of foam in key areas around the riders
head, it is also designed to allow cool air to travel unrestricted through channels
created in the EPS, further enhancing the NXR’s superior ventilation. In addition
to enhanced impact absorption and ventilation, the precision placement of
multi-density EPS liner material yields a more compact, lightweight design.
COMPACT - LIGHTWEIGHT - AERODYNAMIC DESIGN
Shoei’s state-of-the-art wind tunnel at our Ibaraki Factory was
the key to the NXR Helmet Design Process. Thanks to the time
spent in the wind tunnel the NXR sports a more compact and
aerodynamic shell than the XR-1100 and is the lightest full face
sports helmet in the Shoei Line.
XR-1100
VENTILATION PERFORMANCE
Using the Shoei Wind Tunnel the optimal balance of ventilation and noise
was identified. Using this knowledge Shoei Engineers equipped the NXR
with a large, three position lower vent shutter for ease of use with gloves,
three upper vents for optimal air intake, and four upper exhaust vents
too take full advantage of negative pressure suction. The end result is
dramatically improved cool air intake and hot air extraction.
3D MAX-DRY SYSTEM II INTERIOR
Fully removable, washable, adjustable and replaceable 3D Max-Dry System II interior. The 3D center pad is threedimensionally shaped to match the contours of a rider’s head, allowing for an extremely comfortable fit while
maintaining the firm hold necessary for distraction-free, high-speed riding. Additionally, the NXR’s 3D-shaped cheek
pads are available in multiple sizes for a customizable fit, and SHOEI’s Max-Dry System II liner material absorbs and
dissipates sweat and moisture twice as fast as traditional Nylon helmet interiors.

SHOEI equipped the NXR Helmet with its exclusive Emergency
Quick Release System (technology borrowed from The Shoei
X-Twelve Helmet) that allows emergency medical personnel to
easily remove the cheek pads from an injured rider’s helmet.
When the cheek pads have been removed, the helmet can be
safely lifted from a rider’s head without creating unnecessary
strain in the neck area.
The NXR’s all-new QR-E base plate system facilitates quicker shield
changes than ever before. Once a shield is installed, the strengthened
spring-loaded base plates pull the shield back against the dual-lip,
dual-layered window beading to ensure a wind and water resistant
seal. Add to the mix an all-new five-stage rotating dial that allows finetuning the base plate’s position easily and accurately.
MULTI-PLY MATRIX AIM+ SHELL
The NXR features the SHOEI Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ Shell construction.
Combining fiberglass with organic fibers, the NXR proprietary AIM+ Shell is
incredibly strong, extremely lightweight, and comes in an industry-leading four
shell sizes to ensure a custom fit for heads between the sizes of XS-XXL.

Unsurpassed long distance comfort and noise reduction the two key elements in the design of the TZ-
X, and it delivers. The TZ-X combines revolutionary noise reduction technology, advanced ventilation
performance, Shoei’s renowned quality, and a fit and feel that is lightweight and balanced has resulted in
a refined, hand crafted touring helmet to complement today’s high performance motorcycles.
ULTIMATE COMFORT
100% perfect optical clarify and increased vertical and peripheral
vision results in increased safety. The CW-1 visor is made from hard
coated polycarbonate and offers 99% UV protection. A new Pinlock film has been designed specifically to fit the Shoei
CW-1 visor, and offers an increased of 30% more vision, with the
film providing anti-fog right to the edges of the visor, vastly improving
vision in wet weather and cold conditions.
The design criteria for the new TZ-X was
superior comfort over long distances. To
achieve this, we wiped the slate clean and
designed the TZ-X with a completely new shell
shape and EPS liner design. Wind noise is one
of the major contributors to rider fatigue, so
the TZ-X has been designed in Shoei’s own
high-speed wind tunnel facility, to achieve
incredibly low levels of wind noise, and provide
minimal drag and lift at highway speeds.
The TZ-X does not rely on blocking noise with the interior padding,
(as many inferior helmet brands do), as excessive padding will block
informative sounds that are essential for rider safety. The flush surface and flowing lines of the TZ-X reduce air turbulence
and control wind noise perfectly, while the ear sections are left open
so a rider can still hear their surroundings or easily fit an Intercomm. The interior is a new and updated 3D (3 Dimensionally contoured) liner, with an updated 3D crown liner and removable, multilayered cheek pads. These cheek pads are the same as applied to the XR1100, and are available in a range of thicknesses
to achieve a perfect custom fit.
Shoei cheek pads are made using a progressive combination of polyurethane foam layers in different densities to achieve a
soft but firm hold. Riders with glasses take note! Recesses for glasses have been built into the cheek-pads and EPS foam ,
making wearing glasses inside the TZ-X comfortable and easy.
PASSIVE SAFETY
The TZ-X is created using Shoei’s unique AIM+
Shell Technology. The AIM+ shell consists of 6
layers of reinforced organic fibres and fibreglass &
offers increased impact absorption and penetration
resistance properties, with a reduction in weight!
Shoei’s Dual-Liner Technology is a combination of
various grades of Expanded Polystyrene EPS to
provide unsurpassed impact protection.A softer
inner liner is coupled to a firmer outer liner to provide
progressive impact absorption and increased
damping effect, resulting in improved safety.Each
shell size is its own individual size and density EPS
liner, to ensure the optimal safety level is provided
for each helmet size – resulting is a helmet with a
safety level perfectly tailored to the wearer!
The new CW-1 visor and QRSA (Quick Release Self Adjusting base
plate system is the same visor as applied to the X-Twelve and XR1100
race and sports models. This incredible new system offers ‘Onetouch’, superfast and easy visor changes, and the spring loaded
variable axis inside the base plate guarantees a firm seal when the
visor is closed, vastly reducing windnoise.
VENTILATION
Hours of wind tunnel testing has resulted in the extra large upper air intake on the TZ-X to be placed in exactly the
right position and at the perfect angle to achieve the most effective inlet airflow performance in an upright touring
position. This enlarged intake works like the ram-air inlet on a motorcycle – pressurising the channelled ventilation
system inside the helmet to optimise cool airflow throughout the liner.
The lower air intake provides an increased flow of air to the defroster inside the screen. It is also much larger than the
previous design, making it much easier to open and close with winter gloves on.
The air entering around the chin area is channelled inside the helmet through the defroster, which minimises fogging
of the visor. The defroster outlet is angled so that the air flowing into the helmet does not hit the wearer’s eyes directly.
The new Dual -Crown exhaust outlets make use of the negative pressure zone behind the helmet to effectively draw
away hot air, while controlling the stream of air to offer balanced ventilation without turbulence.
5 SHELL SIZES
While some of our competitors rely on foam
padding for fitting a wide range of customers,
SHOEI offers an industry-leading five shell sizes
in the new TZ-X to ensure a custom fit for heads
between the sizes of XXS-XXL.
DUAL-LINER SYSTEM
Shoei’s unique Dual Liner system has also been adopted and improved for the
TZ-X. The air routed between the two layers of impact absorbing liners gently
diffuses the cool air flowing into the helmet, and around the wearers head,
without causing cold spots. Pressurised cool air is fed into the ventilation system,
and is drawn out of the exhausts effectively by low pressure. This revised design
ensures the TZ-X offers optimal airflow with no increase in wind noise.
AERODYNAMICS
The accented shell design is a perfect example of art defined by function. All of Shoei’s 50 year helmet design experiences has
been coupled with the latest in computer generated design to create the TZ-X. This design has been honed to perfection in Shoei;s
own new high speed wind tunnel, coupled with countless real world tests. The spoiler at the rear of the helmet restrains drag and
lift by controlling the airflow over the helmet and significantly eases the load on the wearer’s neck.

THE SHOEI HORNET-DS CAN BE CONFIGURED IN THREE DIFFERENT WAYS
TO COMPLIMENT ALL FORMS OF MOTORCYCLE RIDING:
1. With both the peak and visor fixed to the helmet, the Hornet is the perfect tool for exploring trails and
back roads with your friends. The visor will keep the noise down and protect your face and eyes from
bugs and dust. The peak protects your eyes from the glare of the sun, and can also deflect the roost that your buddies
throw back at you in the dirt. 2. If the trails get really tight or muddy, the rider can opt to remove the visor and ride with a pair of
goggles. 3. If the rider has to do some high-speed highway commuting to get to their favorite trail, the peak can be
removed to completely eliminate the buffeting that the peak can cause. The visor is then attached using the base plate covers supplied with the helmet, giving a cool streetfighter
look!
The Hornet-DS is fitted with Shoei’s 3D interior system. Shoei’s
3D interiors use several different densities of foam in shapes
corresponding to the shape of the rider’s head to ensure not only
a comfortable feel, but superior stability in high speed riding. Shoei
utilizes our 3D Max Dry liner material for the interior of the HornetDS. This blend of fibers is capable of absorbing 35 times its weight
in moisture. The Hornet-DS’ 3D interior is completely removable,
making cleaning easy. Shoei offers range of cheek pad sizes to
allow for a custom-fitting option. Our cheek pads even feature slits
so you can comfortably wear eyeglasses inside your helmet. VISOR
The peak on the Hornet-DS is actually part of the ventilation system of the helmet. The visor is
positioned slightly higher on the top of the helmet than a typical off road helmet for optimal visibility.
The wedge shape visor was designed in Shoei’s in-house wind tunnel to reduce uncomfortable wind
resistance and buffeting. The reduction of drag and lift help eliminate neck fatigue and keep the rider
more comfortable.

3D CURVED VISOR
The Hornet-DS comes equipped with a 2mm thick

different locations. The visor can also be removed so the
helmet can be used with goggles. NOSE COVER VENT
The stylish nose cover on the Hornet-DS is equipped an
internal deflector mechanism that forces fresh air upward
to help prevent fogging of the shield. The nose cover vent
is also equipped with a shutter to enable to user to shut

INSTRUCTIONS
The Shoei CW-1, CNS-1 and new CWR-1 visors are all compatible with the Shoei specific PINLOCK® System
integrated into the visor as standard. The Pinlock Anti-fog insert lens can be easily clipped into the pins fitted into
the visor. The Anti-fog film slots into the recess at the top of the visor for a perfect fit.
The PINLOCK® film can be easily clipped in and out and changed into tint or iridium visors as needed.
The PINLOCK® fog free insert lens is created out of a moisture absorbing plastic. It creates an air tight double
shield. The pins are eccentric, which means that the shaft of the pin is positioned off-center. This enables
the user to increase or decrease the tension on the lens by turning the pins, allowing the
silicone seal to have a perfect fit. Please notice! The PINLOCK® fog free lens is less resistant to scratching then the original visor!
The new Photochromatic PINLOCK® lenses are perfect for use all day long whether it’s a hot sunny afternoon or
a bright chilly winter’s day. Using light reactive technology they transform from a subtle shade of green to a deeper
shade of mid blue within seconds in bright sunlight and return to their original colour when the weather changes.

REMOVING AND FITTING THE LENS:
1) Remove the original visor from the helmet as shown in the helmet manufacturers’ instructions
2) Flex the original visor carefully until there is no more tension on the PINLOCK® lens. Carefully remove the PINLOCK® lens from its position
CLEANING:
Only clean the PINLOCK® fog free lens and the original visor using liquid green soap, lukewarm water and a
soft moist cloth. Allow the lens and the visor to dry naturally before reassembling them.
DO NOT USE ABRASIVE CLEANING PRODUCTS OR
LIQUIDS CONTAINING AMMONIA OR ALCOHOL.
INSTALL THE
PINLOCK®
PINLOCK REPLACEMENT:
The PINLOCK® replacement kit is a very flexible
system, with little effort you change the current
lens for a (coloured) replacement. Diverse colours
for different weather or light circumstances are
available - From sunny to misty and rainy weather
or low light conditions. You click one lens out and
the other one in to adjust to changing weather
conditions. A safe and quick solution.
Fit the PINLOCK® between
the pins, as described. Do
not remove the protective foil
on the PINLOCK® yet
KEEP RUBBERS
CLEAN
To prevent PINLOCK® from
scratching, always keep
rubbers clean and lubricate
with silicone or teflon gel
3) Flex the original visor and click the Pinlock® lens between the two pins and allow the original visor to return to its curved shape. The entire perimeter of the silicone seal should be in firm contact with the original visor.

Remove the PINLOCK® lens
Adjust the pins by pushing them outwards and turning them with your fingers before pushing them back
Repeat step 3
Allow the original visor to return to its curved shape and fit it back on the helmet
Remove the protective film from the PINLOCK® lens
Fit the visor back on the helmet. While riding, the possibility exists that the enormous pressure of the wind drives moisture between the lens and the original visor. That is why we strongly recommend that you always close the visor when riding. Nevertheless, if moisture penetrates inside the air tight chamber, the PINLOCK® lens should be removed from the original visor. Refit the lens to the visor after both have
dried naturally
