June – October
Trains operate between Independence and Akron through
Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Wednesday through Sunday.
June, July and August
Bike the Trail Ride the Rail!
Trains operate between Akron and Canton, Wednesday
through Sunday
Have you heard about the $2 fare
for bicyclists?
November – May
Whether you are a confident cyclist or a
pint-sized learner, you can ride your way to
better health. Bike Aboard! allows cyclists to
bike the Towpath Trail in one direction, and
ride the train in the other.
Trains operate weekends only. (There is a limited
schedule in December and January)
Ticket Sales
Tickets can be purchased the day of your trip, 45 minutes
prior to departure at the following stations. (You can flag
down, board and pay on the train at all other stations)
The train can be flagged down at boarding
stations when standing on the station deck
with your bike. Wave arms over your head
as the train approaches.
Round Trip and Explorer Excursions
(special event pricing is excluded)
$15 for adults / $10 children 3 – 12 (under 3 is free)
(A $2 processing fee applies to all ticket purchases)
Weekends in April and May
Wednesday through Sunday, June – October.
Pay your $2 fee when you board.
(Intended for 1-way use, once per day)
Station Locations:
Stations where ticket booths are staffed to purchase tickets
and board the train. The other stations along
the route are for Bike Aboard! boarding.
Canton to Akron Train Schedule
Rockside Station
(Operates June, July and August only)

Enjoy seeing the urban countryside with a historic
trip to or from the Canton Lincoln Highway Station.
These tracks were originally built in 1880 – see
how the Industrial Revolution changed the landscape.

National Park Scenic
Departs Rockside and Akron Northside
Explore the length of Cuyahoga Valley National Park from
the comfort of a vintage train car. As you peer through the
windows, you will see history and nature unfold. This is a 3
hour round-trip.
Peninsula Explorer
Departs Akron Northside and Rockside
Climb aboard CVSR and journey through the heart of
Cuyahoga Valley National Park to the historic Village of
Peninsula. Enjoy a hike or bike along the Ohio & Erie Canal
Towpath Trail, explore the unique shops for that special
item, and treat yourself to lunch at a local restaurant.
CVSR invites you to spend the day discovering this quaint
canal-era town.
Akron Explorer
Departs Rocksdie, Peninsula or Canton Offered June – October.
Combine a train ride with a visit to one of Akron’s exciting
area attractions. Bus or tram transportation is included,
admission to the attraction is separate. Choose from Hale
Farm & Village (deboard at Indigo Lake), and from the Akron
Station – the Akron Zoo, Akron Art Museum, an event at
Lock 3, or Quaker Square.
Canal Explorer
Departs Akron Northside and Peninsula
Board the train and you will soon be transported through
CVNP to the Canal Visitor Center. This canal-era structure
and its associated lock will give you a glimpse into the
past. Feel the white oak of the whaler gates, marvel at the
workings of a canal lock, and explore the exhibits that take
you on a journey over 10,000 years in the making.
Canton Explorer
Departs Rockside, Peninsula and Akron Northside
June, July and August only
Combine a train ride through the urban countryside traveling
to the City of Canton where you can visit one of the city’s
unique attractions. Choose from the William McKinley
Presidential Library and Museum, Pro Football Hall of Fame,
Canton Museum of Art, Canton Classic Car Museum or First
Ladies National History Site, Education and Research Center.
Canton-Akron Flyer
Departs Canton June, July and August only.
Travel the urban countryside between the cities of Akron
and Canton by rail, just as they did when the tracks were
originally built in 1880.
