2016-17 Season Brochure - Midland Center for the Arts
2016-2017
Celebrating 45 Years
Season
YOU
BelongHERE.
Dear Friends,
Welcome to Midland Center for the
Arts’ 2016-2017 season! As a new
member of the Center team, I am
excited for the year ahead, my first
full season, filled with unforgettable
experiences from the moment you
arrive to the final standing ovation.
The words on the front of the brochure cover aren’t just a
slogan, they are our commitment to you. You belong here! We
truly believe there is a little something for everyone to enjoy
this season. From world-renowned live entertainment for kids
and adults to cultural artists from around the globe, to virtuosic
musicians, to amazing local talent, to insightful and engaging art
and science exhibitions, the opportunities abound.
But we believe the Center is more than a place to experience
fantastic entertainment (which it is!). As the world around us
continues to be unpredictable and sometimes tumultuous, the
arts provide us with shared experience and vocabulary, a laugh
to lighten the load, and insight to help us better understand one
another’s perspectives more fully. We hope you will make us your
place to learn and play, to get to know other people around our
region, to have fun and enjoy each other’s company.
In addition to the performance and museum exhibitions
throughout the season, we are launching a new program entitled
Thursday Nights at the Center (see page 23). These weekly social
gatherings take place in various spaces throughout the Center,
feature food, drinks and entertainment, and add to the richness
and diverse cultural entertainment in Great Lakes Bay Region.
Thank you for your interest in Midland Center for the Arts. I look
forward to seeing you this season!
