Television personality and AZfoothills.com columnist Nadine Toren is scouring the area, finding savvy Valley features, bringing
readers “on the scene.” Every day she’ll introduce you to celebrities, athletes, and give you an inside look into local events and hot
spots. She'll touch on topical issues, and keep AZ fans posted on all the big talkers around town.
Do you know your number? Celeb numerologist Glynis McCants is giving us the inside scoop, explaining what your birthday and
name says about the person you are.
You may follow the cosmos, checking out your daily horoscope; but did you know your name and birth-date is backed by 6 numbers saying
quite a lot about the person you are?
Just ask Glynis McCants, Celebrity Numerologist. She’s been in the numbers biz more than 20 years, providing numerological readings on a
variety of TV shows like The Tyra Banks Show, The Today Show, The View, and Entertainment tonight—not to mention being featured in
magazines including Time, US Weekly, and People.
She uses the scientific Pythagoras Number System dating more than 2,500 years to determine your individual numerological blueprint. Simply
put, according to McCants, if you have someone’s name and birthday, you can discover who they are, what they’re like, and the description of
their ideal mate. In fact, she’s written a number of numerology books; most recently, Love by the Numbers, helping you use numerology to find
love, or strengthen the relationship you’re already in.
And lucky for us, the self-proclaimed “Numbers Lady” gave me a mini lesson in Numerology 101.
“Every number is reduced to one digit—only numbers 1-9 exist,” said McCants.
Ok, here’s how it works.
There are 3 numbers associated with your birthday, and 3 others with your name. Let’s start with your D.O.B.
The first number is what McCants calls your soul number—the actual day you were born. To determine it, add the digits of your birthday; for
example, since I was born on the 12th, my soul number is 3 (1+2).
The second number is what McCants calls your personality number—the month and day you were born. To determine this, add the digits of your
month and birth-date. Since I was born in October, I’m a personality number 4 (1+0+1+2).
Your final number is what McCants calls your power number—the month, day, and year you were born. I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now,
but just in case you haven’t, add all the digits of the month, day, and year you were born, then the digits of the result together. For instance, if
you were born October 12th, 1970, you'd add (1+0+1+2+1+9+7+0=21; 2+1=3).
So what the heck does this all mean? Well in short, here’s McCants’ simple description of each number, but of course, she goes into greater
detail in her books…
Number 1 people strive to be the best…quite fitting, right?
Number 2 people need love, peace, and harmony.
Number 3 people are social, excellent communicators, and quite the playful comedian.
Number 4 people seek knowledge, and are often outspoken.
Number 5 people crave freedom, fun, and adventure.
Number 6 people must be in charge.
Number 7 people have to find God or a little bit of faith.
Number 8 people are business driven, yearning for financial security and success.
And number 9 people are humanitarians, but struggle getting over the past.
But that’s not all.

In addition to your birthday, McCants says your name tells quite a story; however, name numbers are a little more complex.
Like your birth-date, your name withholds the same 3 types of numbers—your soul number, personality number, and power number. Here’s the
breakdown:
Every letter is attached to a number; A=1, B=2, C=3, and so on. However, as McCants says, numerology consists solely of single digits, so
something like the letter “Z” equals 8. (That’s because it’s the 26th letter and 2+6=8.) Confused?
Well, it gets more complicated. Bare with me.
McCants says your soul name number is determined by adding the vowels in your first and last name. For example, I’m Nadine Toren—so I’d
add A(1)+I(9)+E(5)+O(6)+E(5). That equals 25, so my soul name number is 7 (2+5).
And go figure…your personality name number is determined by adding the consonants of your first and last name. For me, that’s
N(5)+D(4)+N(5)+T(2)+R(9)+N(5). That equals 30, so my personality name number is 3 (3+0).
And FINALLY your power name number is your soul number and personality number combined; so mine is 1 (7+3+10; 1+0=1).
Of course, this is just the basics. McCants says knowing your number will help fulfill your needs, wishes, dreams, and desires. For example,
she says number 8’s need to concentrate on manifesting money because that’s what constantly weighs on their shoulders—while number 9
people need to make peace with their past and focus on moving forward.
And according to the Numbers Lady, knowing your number can help prevent heartbreak, downfall, and disappointment. On one of her TV
appearances a while back, McCants analyzed Amy Winehouse’s name and birthday, predicting if the singer didn’t turn her life around, she
wouldn’t live pass 27.
“Knowledge is power. This is just another outlet of understanding yourself.”
And after getting a Glynis reading myself, I can safely say I think there is, in fact, some truth behind numbers. The celebrity numerologist took a
lot of TLC analyzing my birthday and name, giving me more insight about what lies within.
