With over 13 years industry experience Lauren
brings to the college and our students an amazing
depth of knowledge and experience. A qualified
Beauty Therapist, Lauren started her career by
opening the beauty rooms for a leading national
chain of hair and beauty stores, and introducing
new treatments and procedures leading to over
160 stores now offering the services and
treatments Lauren designed.
Lauren extended her career and skills to laser
treatments working with a cosmetic physician,
expanded her career as a trainer for an Australian
skin care company, and more recently as the Spa
manager for a leading chain of Melbourne salons.
Lauren brings to Helene Abicair skills and knowledge
to assist our students to be salon ready, and provides
invaluable career guidance and assistance to get

their study in certain areas or start a new career.
Ranging from 2 – 26 weeks in duration, our short
courses offer a ‘hands on’ approach to learning, so
you will be sure to get all the practise you need for
your new area of skill.
No prior training is necessary, so whether it be
Make-up, Spray Tanning or even Facials, why not

With multiple start dates throughout the year and
classes that are held on weeknights and Saturdays,
short courses are conveniently accessible even
to those who work fulltime. Small class sizes and

Application Course
Basic Facial Course
Duration: 7 weeks (one lesson per week)

Learn all the essentials of make-up artistry! This practical
course will take you through the most popular styles of
make-up along with added tips and tricks of the trade.
Suitable for those who’d like to work from home, and
offer make-up services on a freelance basis or in a salon
setting. This course is even ideal for those who’d just
like to learn more about their own make-up application
and get the professional know how when it comes to
technique! You will learn key product knowledge and get
to experience the full NVEY ECO Organic Make-up range
and have the opportunity to purchase your make-up at
student prices during and after your course. You’ll learn
how to design and apply day, evening and bridal makeup to suit your client’s individual needs and requirements.
You’ll also learn professional techniques to highlight and
contour, to conceal and correct skin tone, blemishes
and facial features where necessary, and how to provide
finishing touches like false lashes! It really is the perfect
place to start your professional make-up career!
Learn all the skills you need to perform a basic facial
that includes exfoliation, steaming and extractions, facial
massage and a mask. Fantastic for those looking at
offering treatments from home or on a mobile basis, or
even to gain some insight into their own skin and how to
care for it properly in this highly popular and successful
course. You’ll learn to consult with a client, analyse

Waxing & Tinting Course
Advanced Nail Course
Duration: 6 weeks (one lesson per week)
Duration: 7 weeks (one lesson per week)
Waxing is still the most popular choice for hair removal,
and is an essential salon treatment. Learn how to provide
fast, professional waxing services with as little pain as
possible. The areas you will cover include facial waxing
for brows, lip and chin, leg waxing, arm and under arms,
bikini line and abdomen. You will cover the essential
theory elements required for this area, including client
consultation, skin disorders, client aftercare, health,
safety and hygiene. You will also learn the different
application techniques required for both strip and hot
wax for treatments on the face and body. Also covered
in this course is lash and brow tinting, where you will
learn to use lash and brow tints to create visually darker,
thicker and healthier lashes and brows. Ideal for clients
who would like to define the eyes for a natural finish
without make-up or perfect in preparation for a
make-up service.
This course covers the most commonly requested nail
services that are offered in salons and spas including
manicures, pedicures and natural or french acrylic nails.
A manicure or pedicure treatment is not only a treatment
for the natural nails, but also for the hands and feet. You
will learn how to soak, file and shape, massage, buff
and polish your client’s natural nails on both the hands
and feet, and also how to effectively remove hardened
or dry skin from your client’s feet to get that soft, silky
feel. Learn how to provide a client consultation, perform
each of your nail services and make recommendations to
your client to help maintain results between salon visits.
Once you have perfected your manicure and pedicure
techniques, you’ll move on to learn the application
techniques required to apply natural and french acrylic
nails and how to perform infills to maintain your clients
nails after the initial application. Acrylic nails are ideal
for those clients that struggle to grow their natural nails.
They are also extremely popular for special occasions
such as weddings and debutantes.

Spray Tanning Course
Duration: 2 weeks (one lesson per week)
Learn how to provide professional spray tan services for
your clients, feel confident in your application technique
and give your clients that natural sun kissed look without
any harmful sun exposure. It’s a great way to boost your
salon menu, add to your mobile services or create a
business all on its own. It’s fun and easy to learn, and we
will teach you all the know how on applying that perfect
streak free tan! Perfect for any occasion, clients may
want a spray tan for weddings, the spring racing
season, birthdays, a girl’s night out or even on a
regular weekly basis.

Brazilian Waxing Course
Eyelash Extension Course
Duration: 2 weeks (one lesson per week)
Duration: 3 weeks (one lesson per week)
This course is offered to Beauty Therapists and students
that have completed their waxing certificate that are
interested in advancing their waxing skills to provide
professional Brazilian Waxing. Brazilian Waxing is an
extremely popular and profitable salon treatment. Being
skilled in this area will broaden your career prospects
and help grow your clientele base.
Eyelash extensions are fast becoming a very popular
salon treatment; a luscious set of lashes will frame and
accentuate the eyes and can last up to 6 weeks. Lash
extensions look fantastic for any occasion from weddings
and formals to birthday parties or even everyday wear.
They create a wow factor for clients and can still look
natural, but most importantly are comfortable to wear.
We use high quality synthetic lashes which keep their
shape and continue looking thick and healthy. In this
course you will learn how to apply a full set of lash
extensions and how to perform a refill to maintain
your clients beautiful set of lashes.

practical and popular areas of study, then the Beautician
Certificate Course might be just what you’re looking for!
• Deposit on enrolment - $495.00
• Balance of fees after deposit - $2005.00
• Monthly or Fortnightly terms are available over a 6
month period (see below)
The Beautician Certificate Course includes
our four main short courses:

By choosing to study all four areas at once, you’ll not
only receive a discount on your course fees but also walk
away with a Beautician Certificate to get you started in
your new career. For details on what you’ll be covering in
each of these areas please refer to the individual courses
and their information on the previous pages.
Classes are held on weeknights and Saturday’s, you
choose the time that will best suit you. The course will
take 26 weeks to complete, studying one lesson per
week at your chosen time.
If you choose to pay for your course in full, then you
have the option to fast track your studies by attending
2 classes per week to complete in 13 weeks or even 4
classes per week to finish up in just 7 weeks!
This course has proved an overwhelming success since
its inception in 1972, and is a great starting course for
students to get to know the beauty industry.
The Beautician Certificate Course is ideal for those who
might want to offer some services from home, on a
mobile basis or to provide a few essential services within
a salon setting.
*Payment terms are subject to the completion and acceptance
of Helene Abicair Consumer Agreement, and the terms and
conditions contained in this agreement.
*Students that choose the payment plan option, attend one
lesson per week, over a six month period to complete the
course. Students on payment plans do not have the option
to fast track.

Although Alayna’s passion has always been for make-up,
she is currently working as a qualified Beauty Therapist,
combining the skills of both to create a diverse and well
rounded career. Alayna is now working on a horror movie
set for “The Ghost of Victoria Park”, which is currently
in production, and has already been signed up to work
on another Australian horror movie in Western Australia
which will be filmed next April. Alayna was taught by the
Helene Abicair team in make-up artistry, and has since
developed her skills to a professional level! Even as an
aspiring student Alayna showed huge potential and flare
in this field, as you’ll see below, this was a photo shoot
she created for an assessment piece as part of her
make-up unit, while studying at Helene Abicair College.
We are very proud of Alayna’s success and wish her all
the very best. We’re sure we’ll see and hear a lot more
about her future ventures!
Bri-Annon is currently completing her second semester
of study here at Helene Abicair College, and has
always expressed an interest in travelling abroad after
completing her studies. Encouraged by Helene Abicair’s
Head of Training, she applied for an overseas position
with leading UK Spa - “Pure Spa and Beauty”.
Bri-Annon has since been successful in gaining the
position and will be leaving for Scotland mid next year!
She will be working at Pure Spa & Beauty in Abadeen,
north of Scotland offering an extensive range of luxurious
spa and beauty treatments. Pure Spa & Beauty holds
several industry awards including ‘Boutique Spa of the
Year’ and ‘Spa of the Year’ in 2011. We are very proud
of Bri-Annon and wish her every success in her
overseas adventure!

Suzanne was so eager to get started in beauty that she
commenced employment in a salon in her first semester
of study at Helene Abicair College. Suzanne said it was
fantastic taking what she learnt at school and
applying it in the salon straight away. Suzanne now
works fulltime at Beauty Science which is a medi spa
offering an extensive treatment menu with a focus on
advanced skin and body treatments. Her employer truly
appreciates her skill and ability as a Beauty Therapist
and has been investing in developing Suzanne’s skill
set by sending her to various workshops and product
knowledge’s. Suzanne most recently returned from a
workshop on body contouring and cellulite reduction!
Suzanne says she enjoyed her time at Helene Abicair
College and loves furthering her education, so she
can offer her clients the latest in beauty treatments
and techniques.
Since graduating from Helene Abicair College, Sam’s
career in beauty therapy has reached amazing heights
working as a massage and spa therapist at Daydream
Island, where she won the Therapist of the Year award
for the Whitsunday’s in 2008. Upon returning from island
life, Sam managed a 5 star Spa Retreat in Melbourne
before opening her own hair and beauty salon. Sam also
managed to squeeze in a lot of backstage make-up for
independent films in Melbourne and Queensland in her
time. Sam attributes her diverse and successful career
as a Beauty Therapist to the quality training she received
at Helene Abicair College. She has since returned to the
college as an instructor, where she has been teaching
the Diploma of Beauty Therapy qualification for the past
2 years where she hopes to inspire the next generation
of Beauty Therapists to come!
