CELEBRITY HOST
DEBI MAZAR
This lithe, attractive, raven-haired actress possesses piercing cobalt eyes
and a brash attitude that has helped make her an increasingly popular
character player in numerous films, several music videos, and on
television.
She made her feature film debut in Martin Scorsese’s GOODFELLAS as
Ray Liotta’s junkie mistress. As the canny, outspoken Hollywood publicist
Shauna in the freewheeling HBO comedy series ENTOURAGE, she has
found a regular TV role perfectly suited to her “New Yawk” style.

President’s Letter
2008
The Femmy is the venue for the Intimate Apparel industry to
recognize and honor the individuals and companies that inspire
and lead us to new levels of achievement! This evening is
especially meaningful as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary
of the Underfashion Club! 50 years of dedicated service is a
milestone under any circumstances! In today’s world of global
change, the longevity of the UFC is truly a remarkable
accomplishment!
As a fundraising event, the Femmy Gala serves a dual purpose:
creating an environment for business and social interchange,
and generating the monies that enable us to fulfill our mission to
“Support education today for a better industry tomorrow.” The
Underfashion Club provides financial support to high school and
college students through our extensive scholarship and internship
programs. Befitting our emphasis on the students who will be
the future of the industry, the Femmy Gala is hosting, for the fifth
consecutive year, a design contest amongst students from the
Fashion Institute of Technology. We thank Calvin Klein
Underwear for generously sponsoring this year’s contest.
There are many aspects to organizing the Femmy and raising
the substantial funds with which the Underfashion Club provides
scholarships, internships and awards to the students who will be
the next generation of the IA industry. Though it is the honorees
who will deservedly receive the Femmy Awards, we are in fact
paying tribute to our entire industry. Ours is a community of
caring, and that spirit is exemplified by the dedicated members
of the Underfashion Club who contribute their time so willingly!
In the fashion industry, Innovation is intrinsic to our growth and
future! Bearing this in mind, the Underfashion Club initiated
the Innovation Femmy contest three years ago. Congratulations
to Stretchline Holdings, selected as the 2008 Innovation
Award winner by the members of the Underfashion Club!
Congratulations also to the two other finalists in the contest:
Fashion Forms and Pink/Victoria’s Secret!
President’s Letter
(continued)
Since we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the UFC, I
believe it is appropriate and important to acknowledge three
ladies who have devoted many years to the industry and the
UFC: Roslyn Harte, Norma Reinhardt and the late
Sheila Solomon. Norma and Sheila co-chaired the Femmy
for more than a decade and became synonymous with the event.
Their tireless energy and attention to detail were intrinsic to the
success of the Femmy, and it is to their great credit that the
Femmy Gala has become an industry tradition! Roslyn has been
a major force within the UFC for the last 30 years. Her dedication
and energy are legendary and an inspiration to all of us on the
Board! These wonderful women have been instrumental in the
success of the Underfashion Club! Thank you, Norma, Roz and
Sheila!
I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to all of the
Femmy Honorees, and a personal thank you to the Officers and
Directors of the Underfashion Club and to all of the members
who have greatly contributed to this evening's success!

Our Vision
To be the global innovative partner in performance enhancing apparel
products, a boundary-less organization, committed to the environment
with a passion to be the Number One employer, supplier and BRAND.
Our History
Stretchline is a three-way joint venture between Stretchline (UK), MAS
Holdings (Sri Lanka) and Brandot International Ltd (USA) that began in
1996. Stretchline UK, the technical partner, is a product of the merger
of two elastic giants Charnwood Elastic Group (UK) and Tubbs Elastic
Group (UK) that can boast of over 150 years experience in the industry.
Since the inception of our Sri Lankan factory, a state-of-the-art unit that
includes a world-class dye house, we have firmly established ourselves
as the world’s leading brand of narrow performance fabric for intimate
and active apparel.
With factories in Sri Lanka, China, Indonesia, Mexico, USA and the UK,
supported by strategically positioned marketing offices in the US, the UK
and Hong Kong, our reach is truly global.
Global Research & Innovation Centre
Our Global Research & Innovation Centre has given us a compelling edge
in the industry. The phenomenal growth we have achieved in the past
eleven years can be attributed to our innovations and brands – Locksafe,
Fortitube, Bondelast, Stay 4 Sure and most recently Ecolastic.
Our Research & Innovation team continues to experiment with machinery,
new yarns, dyes and finishes in search of the next generation of
performance enhancing apparel products. Our state-of-the-art centre is
also home to world-class developers, engineers and designers who are
equipped with the most innovative technology available. In many
aspects, our Global R&I Centre epitomizes the “innovation” that is the
very essence of Stretchline.

have been the primary beneficiaries of the Club's considerable financial
support of "education today for a better industry tomorrow."
The Underfashion Club is dedicated to the belief that the future depends
on attracting and educating young people to the opportunities in our
industry. As a means to this end, our scholarships provide substantial
monetary support to students who pursue college-level, intimate apparelrelated courses. Our internship program provides college students with
the opportunity of working as interns for intimate apparel manufacturers,
suppliers and retailers while continuing their education. As a result of
this program, several graduates have entered our industry. It is our
expectation that companies will hire more students based on the success
of the current endeavor.
The Femmy Gala is the fundraising vehicle, which enables the
Underfashion Club to support its extensive Scholarship, Awards, and
Internship programs. The Club has also been fortunate in attracting
corporate sponsors for scholarships. Last year, FIT students benefited
from the largess of companies such as Wacoal International Corp.,
Fashion Forms, Inc., Regina Miracle International, Invista and Century
21 Associates Foundation Inc. We are especially grateful to Calvin Klein
Underwear for underwriting this year’s Femmy student design contest.
If you or your company would be interested in sponsoring a paid intern
or additional scholarship opportunities, we would be most pleased to
hear from you.
Please contact the Underfashion Club Office at 845-758-6405
