Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I was so proud of all of our students who were recipients of the prestigious Toronto
Learning Community Education Week Awards. The assembly, held at Toronto High
last week, was great and showcased the wonderful students and their learning in our
local schools. The Toronto Learning Community consists of the primary schools Awaba, Arcadia Vale, Biraban, Blackalls Park, Coal Point, Rathmines and Toronto,
with our feeder high school Toronto. As we work so closely together as a group of
schools, it is wonderful to jointly celebrate all of our achievements and our students.
At Coal Point PS all of our awards are for 'Commitment To Learning'. Our 2015
award winners were : Eliza Ovenden, Riley Craft, Piper Conway, Tyler Downey,
Scarlett Englefield, Kodie Wood, Marshall Day, Harpa Goodchild, Maximus
Westerman, Abbi Moore, Bailey Cooper, Jemima McKensey, Olivia Bertram,
Ahanu Bruin, Ella Winterbine, Suhani Jones, Ellie Goldrick, Curtis Jubb, Ruby
Blake, Harry Wellham, Lejla Taborin, Lily Saunders, Rose Wellham, Annabel
McKensey, Caylie Hellier and William McCallum.
Congratulations to all of our Zone Athletics team, who have been wonderful sports
persons and representatives of our school. The final results surely show our CPPS
kids are great athletes. Thanks so much to all of our teachers and parents, who have
supported their children in participating in these events.

Tomorrow is our annual Book Fair and Book Parade, one of the best days on our

Chess Finals
On Monday 10th of August myself and fellow Chess mates competed in the 2015 Regional Chess Finals. It was a
great way to spend time with other students from across

with the twelve other schools that competed.

School Banking
Commonwealth Bank School Banking Update – Please Read
The following statement has been released by the Commonwealth Bank:
“Concerns have been raised regarding the ‘Cosmic Light Beam Torch’ reward item due to the inclusion of four button batteries
that can be accessed by unscrewing the back of the torch. Whilst this reward has been independently tested and deemed to
meet relevant product standards the Commonwealth Bank have made the decision to proactively withdraw this item from the
School Banking Rewards Program. Parents/Guardians are requested to dispose of any ‘Cosmic Light Beam Torches’ their child
may have already received as part of the Rewards Program. Students who have previously received a ‘Cosmic Light Beam Torch’
are welcome to redeem an alternative reward item.”
Please note that it is only a suggestion to dispose of the torch. If your child would like an alternative reward item as a
replacement, please put a different reward ticket in their yellow deposit book and write replacement on it. I will endeavour to
resolve the problem as soon as possible. Thank you
