The clean Swedish electricity production implicates extensive climate gas reduction in other
countries. Sweden is able to export large amounts of available electricity when neighbouring
countries have large electricity demand or shortfall. Moreover, the Swedish electricity
intensive industries export refined electricity in form of steel, paper and other products and
avoid thereby emissions elsewhere.
Since this spring Sweden is interlinked with the Baltic electricity market through the cable
Nordbalt. For the Baltic countries, the cable does not only mean access to clean electricity,
but also reduced dependency on Russian gas import. How can Sweden secure these
possibilities in the future?
