THE DATSUNS
OPERATING MANUAL
INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your purchase of a limited edition Magnetic
Effects Death Rattle Fuzz! This fuzzbox was produced with the
Datsuns to celebrate the release of their 5th album 'Death
Rattle Boogie'.
With a circuit designed by Christian Livingstone for use on
the 'Death Rattle Boogie' LP, the Death Rattle Fuzz is a
fabulous and versatile fuzzbox with a number of convenient
features that ensure compatibility with a variety of guitar
setups.
This special edition of 25 units utilises the exact same
internal design featuring a selected combination of silicon
and germanium transistors to produce the Death Rattle's
dynamic fuzz sound.
You are basically a badass for getting your hands on one of
these, it’s a very small club, people! Don't just stare at
it's gorgeous/hideous cartoon looks, go plug it in and annoy
someone...
FEATURES
Power in 9V DC
1/4 output jack
TONE
VOLUME
TEXTURE
1/4 mono input jack
FUZZ
LED - indicates effect on/off
Foot switch - effect on/off (true bypass)
NOTE: The Death Rattle Fuzz has a high input impedance and a
low output impedance. This makes the Death Rattle Fuzz, unlike
many fuzz pedals, compatible with buffered bypass pedals as
well as pedal switchers and wireless systems.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Connect a lead from your guitar to the input jack.
Connect a lead from the output jack to your amplifier.
Make sure a battery is fitted, or a 9V DC centre negative
adapter is connected to the power-in socket.
To change the battery remove the four screws on the back of
the pedal. Remove the back plate and attach a 9V battery to
the battery clip making sure the polarity is correct. Place
the back plate on and tighten the screws.
To preserve battery life, unplug the input jack when the pedal
is not in use. The insertion of an external adapter plug
automatically removes the internal battery from the circuit.
Remove the battery when the pedal is not being used for a
longer period of time.
For powering the pedal, the use of a well regulated power 9V
DC centre negative power supply is recommended.
If you always use an external adapter to power the pedal, it
is recommended that the battery be removed.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Volume: Controls the overall output of the pedal.
Texture: Alters the bias of the fuzz transistors. It is
recommended to start with the Texture control turned all the
way to the right. In this position you will achieve the
"correct" fuzz sound. As you lower the texture control, the
feel and response of the fuzz will change. Gated type sounds
are obtainable with the Texture control turned down low.
Tone: Affects the overall EQ of the fuzz tone. Turn the Tone
control to the left to darken the tone of the pedal and turn
the Tone control to the right to brighten the tone.
Gain: Controls the intensity of the fuzz.
Got it??!
