WELLCOGEN detects all common
bacterial meningitis pathogens—
including group B strep and E. coli
K1, the major cause of meningitis
in neonates'—from a blood
culture sample in minutes. In
addition, WELLCOGEN offers a
greater variety of samples to test
from, including body fluid or
direct agar-plate specimens. 2 And
WELLCOGEN requires less
sample volume.
WELLCOGEN also offers other
important advantages that are
especially welcome in today's
clinical and cost-containment
environment. With WELLCOGEN,
for
detection
of
antigens
you are guaranteed speed and
reliability through clear-cut,
reproducible, 15-minute results
that help hasten the start of
definitive therapy.

CK-MB immunoinhibition method is
based on reacting serum with antibody that inhibits M subunits of CK
isoenzymes. The residual CK activity
that remains is attributed to the B
subunit found in CK-MB. It is properly
assumed that only trace amounts of B
subunit activity originate from CK-BB
isoenzyme.

LD-1 immuno separation method represents a definite improvement in
methodology. The test involves use of
a second antibody that facilitates precipitation of the immune complex.
Therefore, use of highly specific primary and secondary antibodies allows
LD-1 to be selectively separated by
precipitating the other serum LD
isoenzymes.

Bio-Rad's Polaron JB4 Microtomy System
advances a practical, cost-effective technique that's
markedly superior to paraffin.
Fine Detail Free of Artifacts and Distortion
Pathologists and histologists can expect superior
detail with plastic embedding/precision microtomy.
Plastic holds specimens more securely and, unlike
paraffin, causes little tissue shrinkage and distortion.
And, most important the Polaron JB4 Microtomy
System results in sections so thin... one cell layer or
less... that they're free of overlapping cell images
that reduce resolution.
Simple Embedding and Sectioning Procedures Though the Polaron JB4 System requires
change from traditional procedures, several steps
can be eliminated. Dehydration need not be complete. No need for the clearing step. Less heat is
generated, and the system causes fewer changes
in tissue morphology than conventional methods.

NOVA 12 + 12

NOVA 12 measures clinical chemistry's most basic
test profile - Na, K, CI, TC0 2 ) Glu, BUN with calculations for anion gap and osmolality. It provides these
tests combining rapid throughput (450 measured tests
per hour) and very low operating costs (7.5 <t per
test). Stats are always available in one minute.
These capabilities are possible because NOVA 12
introduces newly developed NOVA glucose* and
-
$ 2 3 , 0 0 0
BUN* electrodes to accompany our well established
Na, K, CI and TC0 2 electrodes. This means NOVA 12
needs just one technology to provide these tests. No
additional spectrophotometers or dilutors/dispensers
are needed. NOVA 12's single technology concept
reduces components, complexity, service needs, and
— a s the selling price of NOVA 12 indicates—costs.
