HAWK PRIDE ASSEMBLY
FRIDAY, MARCH 4, 2016
Period 1 – 8th Grade
Team 9:
Thomas Lamar
George Burns said, “Someone who makes you laugh is a comedian.
Someone who makes you think and then laugh is a humorist.” This young
fellow is certainly the resident Team 9 humorist. His deadpan delivery is
always on-point, witty, and, of course, hilarious. He never uses his humor
to belittle or discount others, which is one of his great strengths. He shows
extreme perseverance on the football field as well as in the classroom. He
never fails to participate in class and is willing to take academic risks. His
peers describe him as kind, fun-loving, and quick to lend a helping hand.
He serves his church community at St. Michael’s with dedication. He proves
his grit and determination each day, even coming to school with a broken
ankle and refusing to let it deter him. We are so happy to announce the
charismatic Tommy Lamar as Team Inferno’s Student of the Month.
Shauna Rubin
Marie Curie said, “We must have perseverance and above all confidence in
ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that this
thing must be attained.” When we think about this young lady, the word
“perseverance” comes immediately to mind. She takes learning very seriously,
and has an insatiable sense of curiosity. We love her enthusiasm and
willingness to participate in class. She is a swimmer who dedicates herself to
the sport, and she also runs cross country. She is described by her teachers as
pleasant, diligent, enthusiastic, kind, and funny. One classmate wrote, “She is
extremely caring, always aware of the feelings of those around her, and she
always tries her hardest at whatever she does.” She is part of the Creatures for
Care group, and she has also volunteered with the Special Olympics. We are so
proud to celebrate the Inferno who is “always the answer,” the tenacious
Shauna Rubin, as March’s Student of the Month.
MacKenzie Travis
William Arthur Ward said, “The more generous we are, the more joyous we
become. The more cooperative we are, the more valuable we become. The
more enthusiastic we are, the more productive we become. The more serving
we are, the more prosperous we become.” This young lady brightens every
class with her smile and positive attitude. Her friends describe her as having a
great personality and sense of humor, as someone they can count on, and a
very caring person. One friend wrote, “She is very fun to be around. She has
the best personality in the HISTORY of personalities. She is kind to her fellow
students, and is always happy.” Outside of school she keeps herself busy with
cheerleading, Tae-Kwon Do, and stocking up on Cosmic Brownies to bring to
Mr. Garstka. We love having the effervescent MacKenzie Travis on Team
Inferno!
Ryan LeClerc
Mahatma Gandhi said, “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and
what you do are in harmony.” This young scholar is always willing to help out
in any setting academic or in his local community. He enjoys being active,
playing tennis, golf, and practicing karate. He enjoys bouncing on
trampolines, hanging out with friends outdoors, sledding, and cheering on
others at track and soccer meets. He is unfailingly kind, polite, and goodhumored. A peer wrote, “He is humorous, helpful, and supportive. Once, my
binder exploded and he took the time to help me pick it up and help me
reorganize it.” We are so proud to celebrate a vital and lively part of our team,
the gregarious Ryan LeClerc, as March’s Student of the Month.
Team 10:
Abigail Williams
This young lady is very humble and is uncomfortable when people make a
big deal about her; nevertheless, she is very deserving of Student of the
Month. Not only does she pay attention to her school work, but she also
includes others. She is a quiet team leader - one who leads by example in
the classroom and on the volleyball court as their captain. She shows great
engagement in class discussions and is always willing to help others. And
she never fails to offer her warm smile and a “thank you” at the end of
every class.
At home, she enjoys watching the little ones at gatherings, and doesn’t
accept payment. She does it for the sheer enjoyment.
Her peers gave her several nominations for many reasons. She is sensitive
to other people’s needs. Once, she noticed a new student on the team and
sat with her in class, asking her questions about herself and including her
in the group discussion. Another student was sitting alone at lunch so she
invited her to join their lunch table. In Spanish class, she offered help to a
classmate who describes it as “giving everything for me to understand it
fully.” Her friends appreciate how she will protect them when others are
name calling or teasing.
She stays happy and cheerful, even if she’s not in a good mood. As one
student wrote, “She always has a smile on her face and a compliment on
her mind for everyone she knows.”
We are pleased to present the Student of the Month to Abby Williams!
Jason Wilkins
This student’s teachers appreciate him for his consistent, positive attitude
and natural kindness. He starts each day with a smile and an upbeat
attitude. He’s not only the first one to open a door or to help clean up a
mess, but he is a role model for good manners and respect for others.
In and out of the classroom, he puts the needs of others before his own. He
volunteers his time by making bracelets to help people in need. In class, he
is helpful with others’ questions, taking on a leadership role in group work.
He will notice when a classmate might need some help, and he will gladly
give of his time. He is careful to be inclusive of all students and is sensitive
to the needs of others.
Team 10 is proud to award the Student of the Month to Jason Wilkins!
Emily Runnette
They say the busiest people get the most done. This is certainly true for
this young lady. She keeps very busy swimming for the Seacoast
Swimming Association While there she gives of her time by training and
timing the younger swimmers. She also participates in community service
activities, like putting together small packages of toiletries for people who
are having financial difficulties.
At school, she is an amazing scholar. Her work is “top notch” - consistent
and thoughtfully completed. She takes the time to be mindful of others’
needs, as well. She recently reached out to a new student and helped her
acclimate to CMS. Her peers appreciate how she checks in
assisted with anyone who she notices is down or upset. As one friend said,
“She always wants to make sure you have a smile on your face.”
We are happy to award Student of the Month to Emily Runnette!
Connor Welts
This young man keeps himself quite busy! He’s been involved in Student
Council and Builder’s Club at CMS. He’s done over 75 hours of community
service over the past 2 years - picking up trash at baseball fields, on school
grounds, and around downtown Exeter. Since he was 11 years old, he has
volunteered at Debby’s, a local daycare. He has also helped out at the
Special Olympics for EHS the past 2 years, supporting someone very
special to him.
Several of his classmates have written glowing nominations for him. They
appreciate how he will stand up for anyone who is being bullied, whether or
not that person is a close friend. They admire his respectful yet fun-spirited
attitude that can always make them smile or laugh. He’s willing to
participate in class and is not embarrassed to get the answer wrong. This
inspires others not to worry about what others think of them either. Soon to
be famous actor who loves the drama dept, he enjoys being a star but is
willing to share. In group work, his peers see him as a very cooperative
partner, always on task. He helps quieter people come out of their shell. As
one classmate said, “He always finds a way to put a smile on people’s
faces by just simply being himself. I don’t know one person who wouldn’t
want to be friends with him. He’s a great person to have in class.”
Team 10 is pleased to award Student of the Month to Connor Welts!
Team 11:
Brian Weston
A new addition to our school this year, this student came in on day one with a smile that has
lasted. He is a highly motivated student who challenges himself to do his best and reach for the
highest standard. He is an astute young man, who is not only observant, but also has a talent
for stepping back and taking a look at a problem from a different and often unique angle. As a
member of the school mathcounts team, this student has been a consistent worker, earning
himself a position on the CMS team that represented our school at the regional meet.
Not only is he a gifted mathematician, but this student also has strong interests in literature. If
you need a good sci-fi recommendation, he is your man--just ask him about some of his favorite
books - he helped his English teacher find three of his favorite reads this year. He also has
great observation and inquiry skills in science class, where he frequently asks thoughtful
questions about the world around him.
We are very fortunate this student came to CMS this year and joined team 11, and we would
like to nominate Brian Weston with as our first student of the month.
Kristen Florence
When new students arrive on our team, this person is the first one to introduce herself and take
them under her wing. It’s obvious that she cares greatly about the feelings of others and she
does her utmost to make all feel included. These are the qualities of a great leader. This was
demonstrated in fine fashion one time when she led Mr. Stowell’s period 7 class in FINALLY
completing an excruciatingly difficult ropes course activity: the dreaded “flip the tarp” challenge.
In addition helping her peers, she is always, always the last one out of the classroom, helping
pick up after her classmates and making sure the room is tidy and ready to go for the next
class. She even sweeps up crumbs in the pod!
But she even takes it further! Her concern for the world and her great perspective on people
around her and how society works can be seen in her active participation in National History
Day, showing great poise and intellect when interviewing experts from around the country. In
science class, she shows remarkable concern for what humans and our behaviors are doing to
our planet. She is a true, modern day Hippie!
For her fearlessness, strong advocacy for others, and being all-around friendly and helpful, we
celebrate Kristen Florence.
Brianna McAvey
Our final student of the month is an ironic one because she herself is never looking for
recognition. This student holds herself to the highest standards and works hard to complete
every task to the best of her ability. In our classrooms she is attentive, reserved, questioning,
and responsible. In the pod, she is always surrounded by friends and more often than not has a
smile on her face.
Her biggest attribute is her maturity and composure. She is very comfortable talking with adults,
her peers, classroom environments, presentations and public speaking. This has been seen
both in class and during student council, whether she is asking how you are doing or discussing
ideas about fundraisers or student led activities.
This student is very engaged with our school’s student council. As co-advisor with Mr. Joyce, we
are consistently relying on this student to help out with just about anything we ask her to do.
That could range from running an errand down to the office, asking other teachers for
information, doing boring data entry around our great pretzel debacle or calling on her during
meetings for input even if her hand is not raised for ideas that might help the group.
This student is one of the 2 student council members that represents the entire CMS student
body at the monthly school board meetings. At these meetings, she goes prepared to present
what all the different activities that the students at CMS have been participating in like sports,
drama, ropes course, pod fundraisers, field trips and any other interesting things of note. Just to
paint the picture of how stressful this duty is, she has to sit at a table of adult school board
members, with administrators and a public TV camera all watching her. I can honestly say, she
has been one of our best representatives that we have had for the job.
We truly appreciate having this student on our team, in our classrooms and representing the
entire student body. So, let’s have Bri McAvery come forward for her Honorable Student
Recognition Award.
Team 12:
Cole Coburn
This student is a pleasure to be around. He is cheerful, funny and always has a smile on his
face. You can count on him to do the gentlemanly thing; he takes down the chairs in Ms.
Coffin’s room every day, opens the door for others, and is always willing to help out. He is
known for his unique sense of style - no one else can rock the flannel and work boots quite like
he does! Although he may look like he’s ready to chop down a tree, don’t be fooled - you’ll find
him in honors algebra next year! This student is a perfect example of a well-rounded individual.
He’s a gentleman, he’s a scholar, he’s the star of the next Duck Dynasty series - he’s Cole
Coburn!
Gavin Markey
It is well known that in middle school, it is as difficult- if not more so- to maintain relationships
with friends as it is to maintain respectable grades. If too much effort is put into one area, the
other seems to suffer. However, this next student does a phenomenal job striking a perfect
harmony between the two.
This student also has the rare quality of being able to converse with adults just as well as with
peers- adapting his delivery and mannerisms appropriately to each occasion. Coachable and
inquisitive with adults, laid back and goofy with peers… while always remaining respectful to
whoever is in his company. With this, he has become one of the most likable people on Team
Twelve.
It is with great honor that we recognize Gavin Markey for our Hawk Pride award!
Jeremiah Swett
The first words that come to mind for this Student of the Month include terms like fun, helpful,
and easygoing. He is an insightful and interesting young man who brings a great sense of
humor to his studies. He is a high-energy student who can make the most routine day into
something memorable. What his peers may not realize is that even as he’s joking and talking
with them, he is finding ways to be helpful and answer their questions. Although he likes to
tease his friends and get them riled up, at the end of the day, he goes out of his way to make
sure they finish their work as best they can. We enjoy having him around to liven up our day;
congratulate Jeremiah Swett for his Hawk Pride award!
Period 4 – 6th Grade
Team 1:
Avery Cieplik
Avery Cieplik
This month’s student of the month is someone who is very polite, friendly, and
outgoing. She is an enthusiastic student who tries her best on a daily basis with
all class assignments, activities, and homework assignments. She is a team
player who will give of her time to help others. In group activities, this student
will make sure that others in her group are understanding the answers to the
problems given instead of just moving ahead on her own, even though she
easily could. Outside of school, this student plays competitive soccer, lacrosse,
and basketball. At CMS, she participates in the Ski Club and the Character Does
Matter Club. She has been involved in a variety of community service initiatives
including an organized food drive to provide Thanksgiving meals to those in
need, and has made holiday cards as well for those who are less fortunate. This
past fall, this student stayed after school with other students to put together
holiday Goody Bags for the troops with Mrs. Glennon. We all appreciate her
sunny disposition and positive attitude, and Team 1 is proud to choose Avery
Cieplik as this month’s Student of the Month.
Matthew Cronin
This month’s student of the month is a nice, young man. He works diligently in
class and performs very well on all his assignments and assessments. Outside of
school, he likes to participate in sports such as football and lacrosse.
Additionally, he is very active with the Boys Scouts and is currently striving to
become an Eagle Scout. He has earned the respect and admiration from his
peers and teachers by the way in which he conducts himself on a day to day
basis. He has recently completed 5 ½ hours of community service in honor of
our fallen soldiers for the Travis Manion Foundation. Team 1 proudly honors
Matt Cronin as this month’s student of the month.
Sofia Morales
Sofia Morales
Please don’t let this student’s quite ways fool you. She has the ability to lead by
example and is a standout on Team 1. She is often the first to class and rarely
leaves any room without “thanking” those that she works with. Teachers and
students alike welcome her pleasant attitude in the classroom. I have
personally observed her helping out those around her, countless times. She is
always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether a fellow student needs help
with instructions, has trouble finding a pencil, or something to write on, she is
always there to help without prompting. Outside of school, she has proven to
be helpful as well. She has been known to babysit for neighbors and has shared
her passion for tennis by helping younger players with lessons in the sport. In
addition to her willingness to help other, she is a conscientious student that has
high expectations for herself. Her diligence and willingness to work hard will
serve her well at CMS and beyond! It is with enthusiasm and excitement that
we recognize Sophia Morales with this “HAWK PRIDE” recognition!
Team 2:
Emma VanderMerwe
Our second Hawk Pride nominee is a lovely young lady who is friendly, polite, and kind. As one
student wrote, “she is the nicest person I know and sticks up for people even if that person isn’t
there.” When she sees a student sitting alone, she makes an effort to go up and say hello, or
just make him or her feel happy. One of her classmates said that she lives by the motto “If not
me, then who?” by holding doors for people and going out of her way to do favors for others,
even if she gets nothing in return. Her teachers see her as a student who never gives up and
always tries to do her best. Working hard on class work, helping others when needed, and going
out of her way to help are all examples of true Hawk pride. Throughout the school year we have
seen her develop into a model CMS citizen who her classmates can look up to. Team 2 is
pleased to recognize, Emma vanderMerwe.
Sameer Usta
Sameer Usta
Our first Hawk Pride nominee is a polite and delightful boy. His classmates admire him as a
hard worker who does not give up, saying, “He goes above and beyond in class to do it right
and to understand.” In addition to being a motivated student, he is very well-liked. One of his
classmates explained that he is a “great friend”, “supportive”, “positive”, “kind and
thoughtful.” More importantly, we are told that “he is always inclusive of everyone.” Another
student told us that “he is an outstanding citizen in and out of school. He always sits with the
kids who are sitting alone and makes them feel welcome.” This student observed that by doing
this, “he makes their day 10 times better.” He participates in the Best Buddies program, too. In
addition to being a good student and kind person, this student’s classmates have noticed the
leadership role he often takes: “He takes the lead and always knows what to do.” Finally, this
student is seen as a person who “always does the right thing even if no one is watching.” This
high praise by his peers, which is matched by his teachers, makes Sameer Usta a Hawk Pride
Student of the Quarter.
Casey More
Our third Hawk Pride nominee leads with a quiet, unassuming confidence. Her peers see her as
a helpful, supportive team member who goes out of her way to make others feel included. This
student is actively involved in field hockey and band. She shows good sportsmanship and
follows the rules. On the field she is described as a supportive teammate, who “always kept
the game enjoyable, even if we were losing by a lot. She never displays frustration.”
Classmates also observed that, “She always walks into the classroom ready to learn and puts
her best effort in all she does.” She has served as a student mentor for a new girl that
transferred to our school this year. In Reading she helped her understand the Literature Circle
unit we were working on. She supported her through the production of jobs for literature
discussion. This is an example of “If not me then who?” Her bandmates report that when Mr.
Kobb asks the musicians to play a note by each instrument section, the clarinets sometimes
play the notes wrong. Our nominee helps her section fix the mistake, so the section plays
fluently the next time. For all of these reasons and more, Casey More is a model Hawk Pride
student.
Team 3:
Caitlin Murphy
Nicholas Copernicus once said, “To know that we know what we know, and to
know that we do not know what we do not know, that is true knowledge.”
What we do know is that this student of the month exemplifies everything that
teacher’s want in their pupils. She consistently demonstrates maturity,
diligence, kindness and respect. Without a doubt, she goes above and beyond in
literally ALL that she does, and shows initiative when working on problems. She
is a good friend to others, and earlier this year helped a friend create a
presentation for the team. She is always polite and smiling, and is someone we
look forward to seeing everyday. She is a tremendous role model and well
rounded. It was very clear from the beginning of the year that she and her
brother are truly great friends. She likes to play outside, with her dog, and with
her friends and teammates, both on and off the field. And, unlike most girls her
age, she really enjoys watching sports as well. She is also an active member of
the school’s Builder’s Club. One day this student wants to be an engineer, a goal
we are sure she will have no trouble achieving, as she is not only a talented
math student like Nicholas Copernicus, but excels in all her subjects. Caitlin
Murphy makes the team and the community a better place to be.
Alexandra Shore
Our next student of the month has a special goal in life… She “wants to do
something to make the world a better place.” There is no questions that
she is off to a great start in our pod. This student is one of our overall top
performers in academics. Every assignment is completed in a thorough
and above average way. Mr. Powley and I especially look forward to her
thoughtful insights in science and math. She is a learner that takes
calculated risks in all her classes that advance the depth and widens our
perspective as well. She is sincere, kind, and appreciative.
We have no doubt that she will accomplish amazing things in her lifetime.
David Busnel
The famous mime, Marcel Marceau once said, “_________________________.”
This student of the month, like Marceau, is on the quiet side, but we see him
coming out of his shell. He stands out for many reasons, among them being a
good friend, his sense of humor, politeness and willingness to help during and
after class. He excels in all his classes, which is a result of his motivation and
desire to do his best work. Outside of school, he likes to spend his time outside
playing and being goofy with friends, and playing tennis. One day, he wishes to
become a scientist, and since he likes to explore new things, this is a perfect
goal, and one we are sure he will have no problem achieving. This Student of
the month is David Busnel.
Alexander Wahl
Team 3's next student of the month is so enthusiastic and energetic. He arrives in class every day prepared
and happy to begin learning. His positive attitude is such an asset to our class because he loves to participate
in discussions and has meaningful insights to share. Outside of school this boy contributes to his community
through his participation in the Builders' Club. His other loves are animals, cars and biking. We are so fortunate
to have this boy's fun and energetic personality on our team.
Congratulations to Alex Wahl you are Team 3's Student of the Month!
Team 4:
Reece Chapman
This student might have being a geologist in his future because of his love of rocks and rock
climbing. Academically he likes to climb his way through big challenges by grasping onto new
ideas and jumping to discover new ways to solve problems. This student sets high goals for
himself and shares his love for learning with his classmates. His hand is usually the first one up
when asked to show his understanding of a concept being asked in class. He loves to
participate both in school and on the rock wall with friends. For these reasons, team 4 would
like to congratulate Reece Chapman as this quarter’s student of the month.
Maxwell Smith
When we think of this team 4 nominee for the Hawk Pride Award, a Michael Jordan quote came
to mind. “Some people want it to happen, some people wish it would happen and some people
make it happen”. This nominee works hard. He doesn’t quit. This student of the month has a
good attitude and we have enjoyed watching him grow both academically and physically. He
likes sports and in addition to playing basketball he plays football and lacrosse. He’s a hard
worker and puts in the effort needed to do well in class. Even if something is difficult, this
student shows initiative to keep working and get the job done. He has respectable aspirations
for himself and we are sure he will reach them as he has mastered the pronouncement of Kevin
Durant, “There’s never a point when you can stop getting better.”
Sydney Fish
In an ocean of students and kids such as this,
One looks like a girl, but sounds like ‘Fish’
Her hair is blonde, like the sand on the beach,
And her eyes are blue like the watery deep
She’s a great friend to all, and a remarkable student,
She’s smart and funny and certainly prudent.
Outside of school, she’s crazy and fun,
Out on the soccer field, she likes to run.
Or you’ll catch her texting her friends,
Or trying on makeup with all different blends
She’s a pleasure in class, we’re so glad we’ve got her
Even when my jokes flop, like a ‘fish’ out of water
Here in the Water House, we’ve got plenty to dish:
Red fish, blue fish, big fish, small fish,
Short fish, tall fish, Goldfish and more,
But there’s only one Fish which we implore,
To swim up here and accept this award
So come on up to P. Sherman 42 Wallaby Way,
And let’s get a big hip-hip hooray!
Not for Dory, the small blue fish,
But for our very own, Miss Sydney Fish!
Summer Young
“When you’re helpful, you’re irresistible”. This quote by Michael Yoder, Founder of Linked up in
Grand Rapids, describes our student of the month to a Tee. Whether she is helping her
neighbors paint the slats for their house or holding open the door for the entire pod at the end of
recess every day, she always does it with her little smile.
But those aren’t the only activities that define this well rounded young lady. An outstanding,
hardworking student, she has been recognized on both the honor and high honor rolls. In
sports, she enjoys playing soccer, both for fun and as part of a team.
After school activities for this dynamo include Drama Club and guitar lessons. She wowed us
all at the team’s holiday talent show by singing as she accompanied herself on guitar.
While maintaining this busy schedule, she still manages to start every day with a smile, and to
continue her day making those around her happier because of her good humor and helpfulness.
For these reasons, we have named Summer Young student of the month.
Period 8 – 7th Grade
Team 5:
Simon Mella
Simon is an excellent class participator. He is kind and courteous to others, and always says
thank you when leaving class. He is a thoughtful and reflective member of our classes, always
pausing to listen to others and to process his thoughts before he speaks. He demonstrates a
serious intellect and seems to truly enjoy sifting through ideas, sharing comments, and writing
creatively. Simon has demonstrated wonderful efforts in community service by helping out
considerably at Kids Who Care events. He balances his intellect with a brilliant sense of humor,
which was particularly obvious on Outsiders day, when he donned a legendary wig. We are
overjoyed to have Simon on Team Wildfire!
Samantha Taylor
Sammi brings a smile with her wherever she goes. She is an incredibly hard worker in class and
is to be commended on her perseverance. Her ability to confidently ask for help is a skill that
everyone needs to succeed in life, and Sammi models this beautifully. She is also an
outstanding listener, which is a rare and wonderful gift. Sammi is committed to helping out in
her community and has been an active participant in Kids Who Care activities, and is a terrific
member of the student council. She is also a dedicated swimmer and she helps younger
swimmers learn their techniques. These young swimmers are lucky to have her attention and
expertise. She also helps out with the Special Olympics for swimming. We are so happy to
have this special young lady on our team this year.
Liam Walsh
In his classes, Liam always has a smile and works very hard. He is eager to participate and
easily volunteers to share his ideas. It is this kind of energy that really makes a class flow and
his teachers are grateful for his enthusiasm! In addition, Liam is actively involved in hockey and
baseball, demonstrating a strong commitment to athletics. He approaches challenges with an
energy and excitement that is infectious to his classmates and teammates. He also has a kind
heart, a winning smile, and a happy spirit. We are delighted to call Liam Walsh our student and
teammate this year.
Emily Weller
Emily has a wonderful presence in class. She always comes in with a smile and works
incredibly hard. She has given up her lunch and helped Mr. Talon clean his classroom many
times and always asks if teachers need anything done to help them out. She wants to succeed
and is willing to put in the effort to reach her potential. Along the way, she has a positive
personality and an excellent sense of humor. She is a ray of sunshine.
During the holidays Emily delivers cards to a nursing home, demonstrating her caring nature.
We are thrilled to have Emily on our team this year.
Team 6:
Michael Poulin
It is my pleasure to nominate for Team Six Student of the month a young man who has traveled
the world. In recent months, he’s stood in front of the colosseum, and in moments he will stand
in front of you, here in the CMS auditorium. This young scholar is wise beyond his years. In
fact, he’s been heard giving career advice to his peers in the halls. “Think about your future” he
was said to a friend one day, “you must consider your career prospects!” Yes, this student is
kind, insightful, witty, and bright. For these reasons, and because he’s an all-around nice fellow,
we’re pleased to announce Michael Poulin as Student of the Month!
Emma Bradsher
Team 6 would like to recognize a young lady that has a peaceful demeanor yet knows what she
wants and works hard to accomplish her goals. She has been a positive role model to her
peers in how she perseveres to make sure she understands new concepts. She is not afraid to
take on new adventures and experiences. This young lady is also a devoted & caring friend.
With her hard work and determination, there is no doubt that this young lady will accomplish
great things in her future. She continues to look towards her future with a maturity that is
beyond her years. This young lady is already seeks out opportunities to accomplish goals she
has set for her high school experiences and beyond. I have a feeling that she will be a highly
sought after welder as she develops the skills and knowledge to establish a career for herself as
she steps outside of the walls of the classrooms!
It is with great enthusiasm that Team 6 recognizes Emma Bradsher for our Student of the
Month!
Chloe Kereage
To look at this young lady right now, with her arm in a sling, one might think her injury has dampened her
spirit. This, however, is simply not true. From the moment she walks into school until the time she leaves, she
is a shining example of positivity and hard work. Whether she's delighting us during recess with her "learning
goals" dance, helping her classmates and teachers, or telling a funny story to, or about, her friends, she always
puts a smile on our faces. She is a dedicated softball player, a talented Irish dancer, and a fantastic
student. While Team Tidal Wave would like to invest in some bubble wrap to keep her out of slings, casts, and
braces in the future, we, nonetheless, enthusiastically select Chloe Kereage as our student of the month.
Team 7:
Mia Stone and Jensen Casassa
Mia Stone and Jensen Casassa
This year two students approached us about the possibility of planning and
implementing a fundraiser for breast cancer. As teachers, it is very refreshing
when students not only verbalize an exciting idea, but follow through and
implement it in an organized and thoughtful manner. The two students not only
organized the pre-ordering of water bottles that they designed specifically for the
fundraiser, but they then went on to organize the distribution and collection of
money for the fundraiser in support of breast cancer research. As a team, we feel
that these two students exemplify what it means to be students of the month as they
are not only champions for a very worthy cause, but they also happen to be
wonderful students inside and outside of the classroom.
For these reasons, Team 7 would like to enthusiastically recognize Mia Stone and
Jensen Casassa as Team 7 Students of the Month.
Ian Dever
Ian Dever
Attentive, attending, polite, and positive, this young man models all the attributes of an
ambassador of goodwill and friendship. Always sporting a smile and sharing an upbeat
statement with whomever he encounters, this student takes the initiative and makes the effort to
acknowledge others as a part of his daily routine. Though this individual presents a
quiet and somewhat reserved presence on most occasions, a recent student presentation by
him while on point and informative, revealed his comedic side as well.
It is a rare individual, who is not only responsible academically, but additionally strives to
encourage others through words and actions to be so as well.
There is a quotation that so mirrors this young man. It follows as such: “Knowledge is power,
community is strength, and positive attitude is everything.”With this in mind, it gives all of us
from Team 7 great pleasure to acknowledge Ian Dever as our student of the month.

Hawk Pride student of the month.
