FOSTORIA REVIEW TIMES, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2011
Findlay
Trojan Marching
Band has played on
the national stage
for several decades
The Findlay Trojan Marching
Band has established a record of
excellence spanning several decades.
They have performed for five different United States Presidents and for
college football bowl games, including
the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee, the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans,
Louisiana, and the Outback Bowl in
Tampa, Florida.
The band has also performed in
such internationally-televised parades
as the Hollywood Christmas Parade
in California and the Orlando Citrus
Parade in Florida, as well as performances at the Hollywood Bowl,
Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and
Universal Studios. The FTMB participated for the first time in school
history in the Ohio Music Education
Association (OMEA) State Marching
Band Finals in 1999 and again in 2000
and 2003-2010. Other
performances include several local
parades, adjudicated events, and all
FHS varsity football games.
This year’s program is entitled “88
Keys”, designed by Chad Clum and
featuring percussion arrangements by
Justin Fujka. Billy Joel’s “Piano Man”
features senior drum major Mikayla
Brown on the piano. “Fur Elise” is
an exciting arrangement of one of
Ludwig van Beethoven’s most beloved
compositions. “Clair De Lune”, which
is French for “moonlight”, is a wellknown piece by Claude Debussy.
The conclusion of the performance
is introduced by senior drum major
Shelby Fletcher on the Bb clarinet; the
George Gershwin classic, “Rhapsody
In Blue”.
The Findlay Trojan Marching Band
is under the direction of Tim Mattis.
Assistant directors are Brian
Sheehe and Michael Springer. Percussion Instructors are Justin Fujka,
Brandon Agin, and Dan Eakin. Color
Guard instructors are Chad Clum,
Liz Clum, and Amber Mowery. Visual
