June 19th 2015 : For the International Awareness day of sickle cell anemia, a cocktail party
was held at the AAFQ’s office. Then, volunteers
danced in front of the Jean-Talon Tour followed
by a symbolic march to raise awareness on the
disease.
July 18th 2015: Nearly 137 people, including parents, children with sickle cell anemia and
volunteers participated in the 2nd AAFQ’s Zoo respite day at the Zoo of Granby . Three massage therapists were there to offer a pleasant massage to the participants.
August 14th to 16th 2015: At Lac Sept-Îles of Saint-Raymond-de-Portneuf, 65 parents and
young people with sickle cell anemia participated in the 5th family respite camp of the
AAFQ. Our massage therapists, Elodie and Martin, were providing voluntarily massage services during this memorable weekend.
August 28th 2015: The BBQ networking for youth / adults with sickle cell
anemia was held at the AAFQ’s office.
The participants took the opportunity
to network with other people who like
them suffer from this disease. They
were able to share their concerns and
also strategies in order to fight against
sickle cell anemia.
Events to come
September 17th 2015: From 12am to 20pm, at the East Community Centre, the area of
Pierrefonds-Roxboro will collaborate with the AAFQ to organize a blood drive. See you there
in large numbers!
September 20th 2015: Mr. Wilson Sanon, president of the AAFQ, will participate for the
second time at the Marathon of Montreal to fund the massage therapy program offered to
children with sickle cell anemia at Ste-Justine Hospital and the Montreal Children's Hospital.
