CARTAGENA
It is the crown jewel of tourism in
Colombia and one of the main
destinations in Latin America. The
importance that the city acquired
during the period of the Spanish
Empire made this metropolis one
of the most important cities in the
world during the seventeenth and
eighteenth centuries. In “The Heroic”
city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site,
the colonial and the modern coexist:
cathedrals, plazas, small streets,
mansions and fortified walls, besides
world-class restaurants, great boutiquehotels, bars for all tastes and, an hour
away by sea, paradise-like Islas
del Rosario.

THE COFFEE
REGION
It’s made up by the departments of
Caldas, Quindio and Risaralda. The
major attractions of this region are not
only coffee plantations; its people and
their traditions, varied landscapes and
traditional architecture that still adorns
each of these coffee towns, are also
as equally attractive as the national
coffe. In addition the region was
recognized by UNESCO as a Cultural
Landscape of Humanity in 2011,
which has caused a remarkable
improvement of its
tourism infrastructure.

GUAJIRA
AMAZON
The magic Guajira has become an important
tourist center due to the cultural richness of its
people and the beauty of its landscapes; the
greatness of the desert, its deep blue sky and
exoticism of indigenous peoples, wyuus, Kogi,
Wiwa and arhuacos, capture the imagination
of travelers arriving to the northernmost
corner of Colombia.
The mighty Amazon River crosses South
America from west to east through Peru,
Ecuador, Colombia and Brazil. A unique
wildlife and breathtaking landscapes adorn
each journey on the river and its tributaries. In
addition, the various indigenous communities
that dot this vast area still preserve their
traditions and ancestral way of life.

BOYACA
SAN AGUSTÍN
Located north of Bogotá, the Department of
Boyacá holds a great history surrounded by
green mountains. Scenario of a great part of
the independence movement, the region is a
perfect example of Andean landscape and
colonial architecture. Boyacá increasingly
attracts some of the tourists who used to prefer
to go directly to the Colombian Caribbean.
The San Austin Archaeological Park
contains hundreds of mythical statues, some
of over seven meters high. It was declared
a UNESCO World Heritage Site as “the
largest group of religious monuments and
megalithic sculptures in South America”.
Scientific missions are now intensely
studying the monolithic sculptures, symbols
of an enigmatic culture. Highlights among
the vestiges are large statues and stone
reliefs, burial sites, temples, terraces, roads
and terraces. The Archaeological Park is
located amidst towering green mountains
that surround the canyon formed by the
Magdalena River.

ORINOCO
Y GUAINÍA
PACÍFICO
The coast of the Colombian Pacific Ocean
is a real gem for those seeking unspoiled
nature destinations. These waters, frequented
by humpback whales and surrounded
by lush jungle, do not have large tourism
developments or large cities. They are
nature sanctuaries awaiting for the most
curious travelers.
The department of Guainía is a unique
place in Latin America due to its strategic
location between the two largest river
basins of South America (Amazon and
Orinoco). The Inirida Fluvial Star is one of
the most biologically diverse areas of the
world; a real border zone, the region offers
unique experiences in rivers and indigenous
communities, giving travelers the chance to
discover something truly out of traditional
tourism circuits in the country.

SANTA MARTA
CAÑO CRISTALES
AND LOS LLANOS
Capital of the Department of Magdalena.
Its privileged location between the Sierra
Nevada de Santa Marta and the Caribbean
Sea makes it one of the most beautiful bays
in the world. It is also the starting point for
visiting a large area of white sand beaches,
dense forests and clear water rivers that flow
down from the snows of the Sierra.
From the Macarena Mountains emerges a river
like no other. “The river that came down from
heaven,” Caño Cristales, looks more like a
work of impressionist art than a river thanks to
the red, green, yellow and purple tones of its
underwater vegetation. Beyond the river is the
Llanos Orientales region, the Eastern Flatlands,
a vast area of plains where the “llaneros” and
wildlife dominate the landscape.
