LAURA BISSON
CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
Laura Bisson, Hudson resident and long serving member of our community, is being
honored by the Gr. Hudson Chamber of Commerce as Citizen of the year for her leadership, selflessness, volunteerism and dedication.
Laura is passionate about giving back to her community serving in various capacities
of leadership roles and volunteerism. She has stepped up as a recent member to the
Hudson School Board since 2009, as well as taking on the responsibility of Vice Chairperson and most recently as Chairperson. Laura is also a member of the Board of Directors for a non-profit organization called Catie’s Closet. Catie’s Closet is a project
close to her heart that helps kids by providing clothing and necessities to students in
need to boost confidence and school attendance. When word got out the future of
Hudson Old Home Days traditional annual event was in jeopardy, she jumped in to
volunteer her time to organize, plan and tirelessly work at keeping the long-standing
event alive by becoming one of the founding board members of the Hudson Old Home
Days Committee. As a volunteer she puts her heart in soul into everything she takes
on, from being part of important contract negotiations and policy making for the
School District to picking up clothes for the Catie’s Closet organization to the menial
of tasks as washing tables and picking up trash at the Hudson Old Home Days Event.
She never fails to bring optimism in all she does, which carries over onto all those that
she works and volunteers with in her various community projects and initiatives.
As an elected member of the Hudson School Board, Laura committed to the SAU 81
Dropout Task Force working toward and achieving a decrease in the dropout rate in
our schools. She was also a representative for the Superintendents Business Advisory
Council working to connect business and education for the betterment of the town.
Previously Laura has served as a PTO committee member and stepped up as PTO CoChair has served on the Hudson/Litchfield Football and Cheer organization as a board
member and volunteered as a CCD teacher and the Tithing Committee at St. Kathryn’s
Church. Her desire to provide the best possible education and opportunities for the
youth and citizens of our community is commendable and beyond praiseworthy.
Professionally Laura has worked in sales and marketing, as a substitute teacher, tutor
and paraprofessional in the Hudson School District and now currently works part time
at Kohl’s and full time at United HealthCare as a supervisor and team leader. She is a
dedicated leader in our community and worthy of the title Citizen of the Year.
Laura and her husband, Steve are proud parents of Kaleigh
and Marc Bisson. Laura continues to make our community a
better place, continually giving her time, expertise and enthusiasm and it is with great pleasure the Gr. Hudson Chamber of Commerce recognizes Laura as this year’s Citizen of
the Year!
Congratulations Laura!

HUDSON POLICE DEPARTMENT
OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY PARTNER
It is the Greater Hudson Chamber of Commerce’s honor to bestow the award for Outstanding Community Partner to the Hudson Police Department. The Hudson Police Department is being recognized for service and contributions for our community that go
above and beyond their daily call to duty.
By nature of their job the men and women of the Hudson Police Department keep our
community safe by doing their job and doing it extremely well. New Hampshire was
once again named the safest state to live in, with Hudson being the 9th largest community
it is one of the safest communities in the state. In addition to being preventative the department has always maintained a high solvability rate for crimes.
What is more impressive is the work they do that goes unnoticed at times. Every year
the Hudson Police Department holds a twice a year blood drive collecting almost 15,000
pints of blood for the American Red Cross; collect toys for the Marine’s Toys for Tots
drive; ring the bell each holiday season for the Salvation Army; annually hold a kid
friendly Fright Night; help with gift and food donations in addition to distribution for the
St. John XXIII food pantry; twice a year send care packages overseas to the troops;
adopt a family each holiday season providing a family in need Christmas presents and
dinner; and participate in the Special Olympics and Winni Dip.
The list of contributions continues with their volunteerism and participation in the CHaD
baseball and hockey games; participate as councilors for the Camp Fatima Special Needs
week; interact with the youth during Halloween by passing out candy as well as their
weekend long support of the Hudson Old Home Days event freely volunteering their
time. As needed the Hudson Police Department has stepped up to serve the communities
in need outside our area such as volunteering at the New York City 911 recovery process
and the New Jersey storm clean-up.
The youth of our community is a priority to the officers and employees of the Hudson
Police Department as they have sponsored a child for the middle school Washington DC
trip; sponsor various Hudson team sports and aided kids with incurable diseases for special trips and accommodations. These are just a few of the outstanding contributions our
Hudson Police Department has impressively committed to and supported.
The Hudson Police Department members are involved with the
community and work closely to solve problems, provide programs
and are committed to assisting the business community, citizens
as well as charitable organizations. The partnership strengthens
Hudson making it a great place to work and do business with the
best interest of the local community through contributions and
involvement for which they are being honored our Outstanding
Community Partner.
Congratulations—Hudson Police Department!
