ADVICE REGARDING NEEDLES
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING
PARTS AND REPAIRS
BONIS FUR SEWING l\1ACHINE
Users of Bonis Fur Sewing Machines will obtain
splendid service from these machines providing they use
genuine "BONIS" needles, \Vhich are correct in design,
proper temper, and smoothness of the eye.
These instructions apply to BONIS Fur Se\ving
1\1achines in rn•o distinctly different types:

Type 77-A- I for fine and medium skins only. This type
is most widely used.
USE "BONIS" FUR NEEDLES
Type 77-B-1 for heavy work, such as dogs, wolves, and
also for closing, sleeves, etc.
MADE IN U.S. A.
It is a positive mistake to use bogus or imitation
BONIS needles. These may cost a little less, but will not
enable your machine to deliver satisfactory stitching results.
The lower cost of inferior imitation needles is offset many
times by excessive breakage of thread and needles, due to
their inferior quality.
SETTING UP l\1ACHINE ON STAND
Fasten machine to the iron base plate with the four
special screws provided for this purpose. In setting
machine on base plate, see that the chain fastened to the
machine is hung down through the hole in base plate. To
connect chain easily, pull disc arm on machine open so that
there is about one inch space between feed wheels or front
discs of machine. Insert screw driver so as to hold discs
open temporarily. This will allow sufficient slack in the
chain so that connection with treadle lever can be made
easily.
We at all times carry a large stock of genuine BONIS
needles, of superior quality. To be safe, and save money
in the long run, order needles only from us or our authorized
district agents.
Equally important is the matter of parts and repairs.
This company and its District Agents carry an ample stock
of genuine BONIS Parts, and employ a staff of expert
mechanics, who know how to make repairs properly and at
lowest cost to the user.. All parts are interchangeable.
The average outside machinist does not understand the
correct adjustments on Bonis Fur Sewing Machines, nor
does he carry parts made by us. Therefore, it is false
economy to buy parts or have repairs made by outside
mechanics.
Deal only with the Bonis Bros. Machine Corp. or our
authorized agents. Then you can depend upon expert
service, the use of genuine BONIS parts on all repairs and
will get full value for your money.

USE ONLY GENUINE "BONIS" NEEDLES
The use of bogus or imitation "BONIS" needles is a
mistake, and will positively prevent the machine from
operating properly. Best results are obtained by using only
the genuine "BONIS" Fur Sewing Machine needles, and
to insure getting the right need!es, order same only from
us or our authorized agents.

of th~ principal oiling pl aces, which arc indicated by arro,,·s. Oil al l
moving parts daily. Best results are obtained with "BB Stai nless Oi l,"
1\"hich ,,.e sell in large or small quantities.
SETTING THE NEEDLE
Set the needle back as far as it wi ll go with the sho rt groove facing
u p\\"ard.
THREADING
The lower picture of machine on opposite page (Plate I) shows the
correct method of threading machine. Particular attention is directed to
the necessity of having the thread pass over the Needle Bar Tension
Plunger on needle bar, as marked by the arrows.
It is essential that the thread pass through hole in Needle Bar Tension
Plate No. 11 5, as indicated by arrow No. I. Then the thread must pass
o.ver the Needle Bar Tension Plunger No. 2 15 as shown by arro\\" !'lo. 2.
F rom here t he thread must pass at right angle from bottom of the plate
that holds the need le, and then through t he need le eye. Thread the need le
th rough the eye from tlze hollo/11.

STITCH REGULATiON
Loosen the round thumb nut on right side oi machine, move toward
you for sltortn stitch, and away from you fo r longn stitch.
