NCJHS raises up
new generations
of Jewish leaders
who create and
shape the future.
Over a Decade of
Intellectual Imagination
and Ethical Action
New Community Jewish High School is a
vibrant and academically rigorous school where
intellectual imagination and ethical action
are inseparable. We seek to shape students
into collaborative leaders and respectful,
knowledgeable people of character who
embrace life in an ethical manner.
At New Community Jewish High School,
students are taught that mathematical and
scientific advances are to “promote the
general welfare” of humanity; that powerful
writing must serve the greater good and never
devolve into demagoguery; that arts uplift the
soul and explore human meaning; that Jewish
text study has practical application in business
and medical ethics; that from the study of
history emerges wisdom for the future; and
that world language study both connects us
with the “other,” and transmits culture.
OUR CAMPUS
Beautifully renovated in 2013, our campus features 100,000 sq. ft. of
buildings plus outdoor learning spaces, dedicated science labs and prep
rooms, visual and performing arts studios, state-of-the-art classrooms
equipped with iWalls (WallTalkers and interactive projection technology)
and distributed sound, robust wireless technology, gymnasium, pool,
auditorium/theatre, student lounge and store, comprehensive security,
and on-campus parking.
College Preparatory Academics
Students collaborate to analyze how historic
events shape contemporary politics.
New Community Jewish High School is a place
where minds are free to contemplate, create and
innovate. Our teachers possess deep knowledge
of their subject, are at the cutting-edge of their
fields, value imagination and creative thinking,
and use teaching methods that transform.

Learning Outside the Classroom
New Community Jewish High School weaves
the tradition of the Jewish quest for justice into
our educational program. History, art, culture,
and tradition remind students of their rich past
and inspire them to become global citizens to
create a more just world.
In Birmingham, Alabama, Reverend Calvin Woods leads
eleventh graders in inspirational songs and teaches about
the sacrifices made by African American men, women, and
children of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference
as they peacefully protested against discrimination.

Giving Back to the Community
Morality is the cornerstone that guides our students
and graduates. New Community Jewish High School
aims to develop students who have respectful and
inclusive minds with moral courage. Our students
understand the importance of engaging in individual
acts of loving-kindness and know that justice is
created in the world by contributions of personal
time and material resources.
“NCJHS has really been a
guiding light, instilling Jewish
values, Jewish friendships,
and a comprehensive Jewish
weltanschauung (world view)
that I wouldn’t otherwise have.”
“At NCJHS, I had the opportunity
to develop essential leadership skills,
travel to countries I had previously
only learned about in books, and
form friendships that will last a
lifetime. NCJHS provided me with
a safe place to learn and grow.”

“NCJHS encouraged us to search
for significance and ask profound
questions; NCJHS empowered us,
letting us know that we really can
make meaningful impacts on the
world and that it is our lifelong
duty to strive to make a difference.
I work in Jewish education

“My interest in philosophy and
neuroscience in college grew out
of four courses at NCJHS: anatomy
and physiology, 11th and 12th grade
English, and 12th grade Jewish
philosophy. These courses focused on
the philosophical backdrop of the
novels we read—be it existentialism,
transcendentalism, or even Buddhism.
I used both philosophy and
neuroscience to tackle the question
of consciousness in my senior thesis
at Princeton, and I continue to use
my training in both these fields in my
current position where we study the
neuroscience of consciousness.”

Who Will You Be?
OUR MISSION
At New Community Jewish High School, we
challenge each student, both academically and
personally. We provide students with a moral
and ethical lens along with knowledge so that
they may take action to better the world. Our
educational program provides students with
the context for valuing kindness and engaging
in ethical action. Our faculty members are role
models of courage, joy, and caring.
The mission of New Community Jewish High
School is to raise up a new generation of Jewish
leaders for whom Jewish values and tradition
shape and guide their vision, and for whom
knowledge creates possibilities for moral action,
good character, and shalom.
NCJHS welcomes students with many Jewish philosophical beliefs
and practices. Students identifying with Reform, Conservative,
Modern Orthodox, Reconstructionist, and a variety of secular
points-of-view participate in a respectful and non-judgmental
learning environment.
As a team, our faculty, staff, and administrators
seek to support teenagers as they navigate through
some of the most challenging years of their lives.
Incoming students, embraced by the warmth of
their classmates, teachers, and school administrators,
express deep gratitude for the kindness and
compassion that is our school’s trademark.
We seek students who love to learn, imagine, challenge
themselves, create community, and explore the many facets
of their Jewish identity. Each student is valued for his or her
individuality and all may strive for excellence—as scholars,
athletes, artists, and A+ human beings.
In time, each student at NCJHS comes to realize
that they can. Once this happens, they do.
We’d love to meet you.
