Happy Autumn
from Mountain Meadow Elementary PTA!
Mountain Meadow Community,
The year is off to a great start. We are so excited about the programs we have planned for the
year. Next up is Autumnfest which is a little different this year, we were asked for a more
affordable dance event. The revamping of Autumnfest is our answer to that call. We are
charging a small admission fee to offset the additional cost of the DJ, but this event is still one
that we invest our PTA dollars in to provide a memorable experience for our families. We
count on your donations of candy and cupcakes in order to keep our cost in check. We
encourage full family participation. Costume prizes will be awarded for best group theme, best
adult and by grade groups. Your children are learning dance steps in PE to share with you.
Entertainment includes a live performance of the classic “Thriller Dance” by our friends at
Dancemakers Northwest. PTA will provide treat bags for the children that will be numbered
for door prizes. You must pick these up at the check in area under the covered area, before
getting in line to trick or treat. Check in will begin at 6:00 pm, and doors open at 6:30 pm.
Tickets will be sold at the door, or pre ordered before Oct. 15th.
If you miss it, as with many of our events, you can see pictures on our facebook page.
Part of what we do as a PTA is advocate for our kids. In last year’s survey, students asked for
the opportunity to sit with their friends at lunch. There is now a program in place where with
good behavior students can earn this privilege on Fridays. Another item that came up from
students is a request for new playground equipment. With our coke rewards program, we can
earn sports balls and jump ropes. Please participate if you can. We will also be discussing
playground improvements as a possible fundraising goal at our October 16th meeting at
6:30PM in the library.
Last year we launched an extremely successful program called Dancing Classrooms for our fifth
grade students. Teachers noticed a raise in maturity level after this program which has a focus
on respect and social etiquette. If you would like to help ensure this program for our fifth
graders, please contact me as soon as possible, at [email protected]. We hope to implement
it this December.
Our school is spectacular because of our supportive community of parents, faculty and friends
We appreciate all that you do to support us so we can support our children.
Sincerely,
Effie Dattilo , MME PTA President
