When the Dallas Cowboys host the Philadelphia Eagles
Thanksgiving Day on Fox, all eyes will be on star players
of both teams, especially the surging Cowboys. More than
likely, however, a role player like Cowboys wideout Terrance
Williams will make a defining play in a game between two
NFC Eastern division rivals with designs on a playoff spot.
A true Texan, Williams calls Dallas his hometown and
attended Baylor before being drafted by the Cowboys in
the third round of the 2012 draft. His contributions to the
Cowboys’ offense were almost immediate. By midseason, he
had set a team rookie record of having touchdown receptions
in four consecutive games while bouncing between the second
and third receiver slot. This season his play opposite Dez
Bryant reminds Cowboy fans of a similar duo of Michael
Irvin and Alvin Harper of the 1990s championship teams.
Williams has come up big this year for quarterback Tony
Romo with a two-touchdown performance in a Sunday night
win over New Orleans. He followed that up with a clutch
TD in an overtime victory against Houston and, in the
Cowboys’ highly-touted defeat of the reigning Super Bowl
champion Seattle Seahawks, Williams made a game saving
sideline catch on third down. Even Bryant attributed an early
season touchdown to a move he learned from Williams. If the
Cowboys continue their winning ways this season their star
players will need some help. Terrance Williams appears to be
both willing and able to do the job.

An ‘Elementary’ reason
for season’s delay
Q: Why did CBS wait to start the
new season of “Elementary”?
– John Hood, Providence, R.I.
A: Largely, the delay of Jonny Lee
Miller and Lucy Liu’s return was
necessitated by CBS’ scheduling of NFL
football on the first several Thursday nights
of the television season. Though the network
did move “The Big Bang Theory” from
Thursday to Monday for those weeks, that
was a separate case, the show typically being television’s toprated comedy series weekly ... so CBS didn’t want to start the
season without it.
As for the other Thursday shows, also including “Mom” (which
originally had been slated as a fall starter on Mondays), “Two
and a Half Men” and the new “The McCarthys,” the network
decided to wait to launch their seasons until its football run on
that night was over.
Q: Where have I seen the
daughter on “The McCarthys”
before? – Gloria Johnson, Stuart,
Fla.
A: Kelen Coleman has been a familiar
face in recent television seasons, perhaps
most particularly for her recurring role
as Jim’s (John Gallagher Jr.) on-and-off
girlfriend Lisa on HBO’s “The Newsroom.”
Coleman isn’t in the current, concluding
season of that drama, but she appeared on ABC’s “Scandal”
earlier this season.
Her other credits include “Men at Work,” “Super Fun Night,”
“The Mindy Project,” “Hart of Dixie” and “The Office” ... the
latter being the project that really started drawing attention to
her, she told us, and it made for interesting moments of fandom
while she also worked as a waitress.

Keanu

Keanu Reeves
toughs it out,
effectively, as
‘John Wick’
Meet the
2014-2015
Greater Burlington
Leadership Class
Sometimes, how well an actor fares
with doing something familiar is as
much, if not more, a matter of the
movie it’s couched in.
One of the best examples lately
is “John Wick.” Given how erratic
Keanu Reeves’ results in the action
realm have been since the days of
“Speed” and “The Matrix,” one might
look at the basics here – a former
assassin returns to that line of work
on a mission of vengeance – and
think, “That plot? Keanu Reeves?
Yawn.”
But hold that yawn: “John Wick”
is filled not only with dazzling
sequences of mayhem, but with
unexpected twists that play to
Reeves’ strengths. Even in his films
that haven’t worked completely, “47
Leitch are wise enough to keep their
own mission on track by letting Wick
stay focused on the task at hand. And
that means a whole lot of bullets will
fly.
Willem Dafoe, Ian McShane and
“Friday Night Lights” alum Adrianne
Palicki – who’s been reinventing
herself as an action heroine (also on
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”)
– also are on hand, and while they
supply notable support, there’s never
a second of doubt that this is built as
a Reeves vehicle.
The sense that he saw this as a
change to regenerate his career is
tangible, and you can’t blame him:
“John Wick” is solid and well-made
genre fun, and hopefully, it won’t be
the title character’s only visit.
Winegard Wins Manufacturer of the Year Award!

have spoken much louder than his
words.
The movie’s debuting directors,
David Leitch and Chad Stahelski,
clearly understand that. They’ve done
a lot of stunt work (including in the
“Matrix” series), so they know the
value of letting one’s reflexes do the
talking. And boy, do Reeves’ muscles
speak once John Wick begins his
mission ... to even the score with a
Russian hoodlum who messed with

Make no mistake: You do not mess

The plot does veer toward the

OF “GETTING ON” ON HBO
Have you finished shooting Season
2 yet?
Yeah, but you know what? It’s good
for me, it’s exciting but the day that
production ends on that thing I get so
bummed and so depressed because
it’s honestly the coolest thing I’ve ever
worked on in my life. I wish that we
were still shooting. So it really is an
amazing project.
Despite the obvious morbid subject
matter of “Getting On,” many who
have done eldercare will tell you
that there is humor there.
Oh yeah. I went through it with my
grandmother and I know how funny
some of that – you know, missing teeth;
we couldn’t find her teeth for awhile. I
mean, there’s a lot of just insane things
that actually happen.
Many times, I would show up to see her
and she would complain. She had a
very thick accent and she’d say, “There
is this naughty nurse ... dancing with
me.” Convinced that at night he was
sneaking into the room and dancing
with her. And what it was, they had to
pick her up out of the bed to be able to
change her bedding. So he picked her
up. He was picking her up at night and
she thought he was dancing with her.
Some of those moments were just so
funny and raw.

Founded in 1954 in a garage, Winegard continues
to grow and add jobs in the Greater Burlington
area. This family owned business has diversified

the last few years. The company recently added
a second manufacturing facility that could have
went anywhere in the world, but they choose
to build it here in Greater Burlington and in the
process transformed the old Montgomery Ward
neighborhood. Join us in congratulating Winegard

Checking in with
For Ginger Zee, the arrival of the holiday season also means a
very significant anniversary.
ABC’s well-traveled weekday “Good Morning America” chief
meteorologist will be in Philadelphia on Thanksgiving to co-host
affiliate WPVI-TV’s parade coverage. Soon after that comes the
one-year mark of her current job, after her relatively short stint
doing forecasts on the weekend editions of “GMA.”
Add such activities as swimming with sharks – literally – and
filming an upcoming episode of Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest
Catch,” not to mention walking down the aisle with reporter
Ben Aaron of New York’s WNBC-TV, and the lively and
friendly Zee can’t deny she’s been having quite a time lately.
“All-great things have happened,” she enthuses. “It’s been such
a positive transition. I just saw somebody I hadn’t seen in the
last two years, and he said, ‘What difference a couple of years
makes!’ Life-wise and career-wise, it’s just been spectacular.
“Of course, hard work is a huge part of it,” adds Zee, “but so
much else has to happen for it to come together. And then, you
have to keep yourself together when it happens. Every day is a
learning curve for me.”

GINGER ZEE
It’s not that Zee (whose father named her Ginger after the
“Gilligan’s Island” character) doesn’t have her share of fun,
too, as when she dressed as pop-music star Ariana Grande for
“GMA’s” Halloween show ... or took a memorable whirl around
the floor with “Dancing With the Stars” pro Derek Hough that
could qualify her as an actual contestant some day, her time
permitting.
“You don’t know what tomorrow’s going to bring,” Zee
allows, especially given her current job. “A lot of times, it can be
very positive, so I’ve learned a better way to look at life overall
through this.”
