Pad Placement
1) Choose appropriate pad size
2) Roll the patient on his/her side
3) Align the first back pad parallel to the spine
and wrap around front of abdomen
- Ensure curve of pad is 2” below the underarm
4) Wrap the appropriate leg pad (L/R) around the
thigh—femoral access should be exposed
5) Pad lines should be anterior and point toward
the foot end of the bed
6) Turn the patient and repeat
Once therapy is complete, pads should be removed slowly–peel don’t pull

• Record water and patient temperature hourly
• Always Empty Pads before disconnection
