Holiday 2012
“You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out”
Special Holiday Greeting
from Chuck and Company
CRA staff members share their most perfect gift as a kid
For Ralphie in A Christmas Story, the most perfect gift
he could receive was the Red Ryder B.B. gun, and despite
the predictions of shooting his eye out, he could not be
swayed from hoping for that most perfect gift on Christmas
morning. In the spirit of A Christmas Story and the ol’ glory
days, members of CRA were asked to share their most
perfect gift and why it was so perfect.
Heather
Barras—Lab
Director,
Kentucky
“My Nintendo
when I was
eight. Why was
it so awesome?
Because it WAS.”
Heather Barras opening her awesome
Nintendo Christmas morning.
Alex Bybee—Bioarchaeology Specialist, Kentucky
“Mine was a wooden dollhouse kit, received from my mom
and dad when I was 9 years old. My dad put it together and
my mom painted it and made curtains and furniture. Star
Wars guys lived in it (haha, Luke and Leia were married and
had a Jawa, Snaggletooth, and Yoda as their kids; the family
car was a Landspeeder, and they used the Millennium Falcon
for long trips). It’s in my attic, a fixer-upper now, and I will be
remodeling it for my little girls in the near future (once Sophie
stops destroying everything).”
Original advertisement for the Guns of
Navarone Playset.
Tanya Faberson—Historic
Materials Specialist,
Kentucky
“In 1982, at age 9, I
wanted a Brooke Shields
Barbie, and I got her for
Christmas. She had stirrup
pants and painted-on
thick eyebrows. I thought
she was cool as hell (until
her eyebrows rubbed off and I cut all of her hair into stumpy
spikes, then I have no idea where she ended up.”
Steve Creasman—
Executive Vice President
His answer was short and simple
“Lincoln Logs.”
Russ Quick—Geophysical Specialis, Kentucky
Leatherman Wave. Thought it was thoroughly useless when
my wife gave it to me – best toy I ever got .
Tommy McAlpine—
Field Technician,
Kentucky
“As a Lego and
SciFi fan the Lego
Spaceships were
always on the top of
my wish lists.”
Bill Hunter—
Architectural
Historian, Kentucky
“The Guns of
Navarone Playset,
the coolest present I
ever got, now selling
on eBay for big
money.”
A picture of Chuck, proudly
displaying his Christmas gift, with
his dad taken about 1955, which
would have made Chuck 5 years
old.
Chuck Niquette—
President, CEO
“Every Saturday morning
“Covered Wagon Theatre”
came on one of only three
black and white channels
we got on our TV at the
time. I never missed
an episode. It featured
Roy Rodgers and Dale
Evans as well as many
other TV cowboys. Roy
Rodgers surpassed all of
the others in my mind
and he was a hero to me.
That Christmas, Santa
brought me the outfit I’m
wearing in this picture, a
pair of six guns with belt
and holsters, and a Roy
Rodgers cook set with tin
plates, a coffee pot and
cups! It was one of the
best Christmases ever!!!”

Holiday Greeting
Colonel Steve Creasman
Chuck nominates Steve for Kentukcy Colonel title
What do Elvis Presley, Phyllis Diller, Pope John Paul
II, and Steve Creasman have in common? All are members
of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. Steve was
nominated to become a Kentucky Colonel by Chuck, who is
also a Kentucky
Colonel.
Founded in 1813,
the mission of the
Honorable order
of the Kentucky
Colonels is to serve
the Commonwealth.
A Kentucky Colonel
serves as a role model
and leader within
the community. The first Kentucky Colonel was Charles S.
Todd, who served in the Kentucky militia during the War
of 1812. Todd was appointed by Governor Isaac Shelby to
serve as aid-de-camp and given the title “colonel,” thus, the
Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels
began.
Throughout the years, numerous individuals have
served as Kentucky Colonels to make a difference in
the world around them. The Honorable Order of the
Kentucky Colonels is one of the most efficient charitable
organizations. Next time you see Steve be sure to
congratulate him on his accolade!
Chuck presented Steve Creasman with his official Kentucky
Colonel certificate on November 26, 2012.

Blast from the Past
Chuck provided pictures from the good ol’ days
Although CRA now has 11 offices across the nation,
it was not always that way. Much like other successful
companies, CRA started from humble beginnings. Chuck
was kind enough to provide the CRAIR with photos
ranging from the first CRA office to a picture of Steve with
hair.
The first CRA office. It just happened to also double as Chuck’s
basement in 1983.
Garland and Chuck in 1976.
Chuck at a hot springs in 1979. And yes, that is a perm.
Chuck thought the company might want to see a picture of
Steve with hair.
