Important Reminder Regarding Students with Health Condi ons:
Families of students needing medical treatments at school, or with life‐threatening health condi ons (asthma, allergies, etc.), need to meet with the school nurse and bring medica‐
ons to the office beginning on Wednesday, August 10, 2016.
For the 2016‐2017 year, all students with life‐threatening condi ons need to have a nursing care plan, and any needed medica on or treatment orders at school, by August 24, 2016 to guarantee a endance on the first day of school. Medica on administra on order forms are available in the school office or online at: h p://www.edmonds.wednet.edu/Page/515. Cheryl Robinson, School Nurse, will be checking phone and e‐mail messages during the month of August. All student entering 6th grade need a Tdap vaccine prior to September 7th, or a Cer ficate of Exemp on signed by a licensed health care provider. Additional items you need to know

Please note this list is a general guideline and that individual teachers may have specific supply needs. Check with your child’s teacher once classes have been assigned (see 2016‐2017 classroom Assignment for more info on that) 2016‐2017 Classroom Assignment We will be mailing families a postcard in Au‐
gust which will let you know your child’s classroom teacher. You will also be able to look online for the name of your child’s teacher using the Skyward login informa on that is a ached along with this newsle er. A copy of the report card will be mailed home no later than July 1st. The mailing ad‐
dress will be the one we have in Skyward. IF your address has changed you will need to contact the office at 425.431.7470 AND provide a proof of residency (u lity bill, lease agreement, mortgage statement) with your new address a ached. Family Access through Skyward ‐ Skyward provides you opportunity to check your child’s grades, immuniza ons, lunch balance, a endance, state test scores and other informa on that helps you manage your child’s academics. Forms will be coming up later in August or early September for families to apply. Please note that families who qualify for this program need to apply every year. Forms for Clothes for Kids will be available in the school office in August. Clothes for Kids in an non‐profit organiza on that provides a set of wardrobe for students who qualify for free and reduce lunch. To learn more about the organiza on please visit them at h p://
www.clothesforkids.org/ . This organiza on also excepts dona ons of slightly used and new clothes. Please contact our school office in August at 425.431.7470 to make sure that forms have ar‐
rived from Clothes for Kids. Change of address? Please contact our office to let us know. We will need a u lity bill, mortgage statement or leave agreement showing your name and the new address before we can update in Skyward. District Calendar ‐ 12 month district calendar typically is mailed out in late August to every family. Please note that the mailing address is what we have in Skyward. Bus Informa on ‐ The district will be se ng up bus routes in the later part of August. Fami‐
lies who qualify for buses will receive a postcard sta ng the bus number, me of arrival and departure and pick up address. Drop‐in between 10am—1pm on the following
Wednesdays: June 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27 and August: 3, 10. During these mes students can check out books, access the computers, design book review post‐
ers, and create book commercials. Families will come away with a variety of ideas for promo ng lit‐
eracy at home. Every me students a end, they may put their name into a free raffle for a chance to take home a fun goodie bag! Parents/guardians must aƩend this event with their child(ren).
Kindergarten 2016-2017
Jump Start Kindergarten August 15th through August 19th from 9 AM to Noon Parent Orienta on August 15th at 9:15 AM in the library (with the principal) Kindergarten Orienta on August 19th star ng promptly at 11 AM (with the teacher.) Families will meet their child’s teacher, meet classmates, learn more about the curriculum, classroom expecta ons and go on a treasurer hunt. Family Connec on Conferences September 7th, 8th and 9th. Mee ng me will be set up based on the informa on you provided on the P‐133 Jump Start Registra on form. Please note: We will contact you the week of September 1‐4 to schedule your appointment. This is a required mee ng and will count as your child’s first day of school. Monday, September 12th will be your child’s first REGULAR full day of school. School is
from 8:40 AM to 3:10 PM. Save the Date! Bus Safety Fair and Ride Along August 2 & 3
Register by July 24 to “ride along” on a yellow school bus!
Our Student Transportation Staff is already looking forward to the 2016 – 2017 school year. Families
with incoming kindergartners are invited to enjoy a bus ride and learn about school bus safety procedures August 2 & 3.
School bus drivers will share guidelines for bus safety, give tours of the new Maintenance and
Transportation Facility and school bus rides around the neighborhood!
There are three sessions to choose from each day: 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. Bus rides will
last approximately 20 minutes. All sessions will take place at the almost-complete Edmonds Maintenance and
Transportation Facility, 20601 52nd Ave W, Lynnwood.
Online Register Now Open! Seats fill up quickly, with registration needed by July 24.
